Meet David Salazar

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Salazar. Them and their team share their story with us below:

David “DB” Salazar is a 27-year-old audio engineer/record producer based in Atlanta, GA. DB started his music journey when he was only 14 years old, recording himself and his friends with very inexpensive recording software and microphone from radio shack, where he found his love in making music. Fast forward to 2016, when he finished his military contract with the Marines, he decided to take his career in music serious and enrolled at SAE Institute in Atlanta, GA, where he graduated with honors and quickly found opportunities with studio internships.

He began his professional career in 2017, being promoted from intern to recording engineer at the studio he was currently at. DB has since then worked in the Atlanta area with talented independent and signed artists. He is currently working as an audio engineer for Authentic Empire Music Group and recently started working alongside T.I.G Records where he is recording and mixing for some of Atlanta’s hottest artists in the rap industry right now. DB plans to continue to make his mark in the music industry with his sound behind the board and record some hits for the listeners to enjoy.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has definitely been a lot of difficult times in this industry, especially in the very start of my career. A few struggles were not having consistent work always worried about making enough to pay bills, but I slowly realized that if you focus on networking and building relationships and really enjoying what you love to do the money will come eventually and all the hard work will pay off.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My title is technically audio engineer, but my main focus is being in recording studios recording vocals and mixing the songs for artists/labels. Recording sessions with the artist is probably my favorite part of my job. You get to meet different artists from different areas and backgrounds and you as the engineer need to set the vibe for the session. There have been times where we didn’t have much time to record because me and the artist got caught up talking and learning about each other’s stories in how we both got into music but that artist will become a lifetime client because there has to be a certain trust between you and the artist/producer. I can say that majority of the artist I work with compliment the way I work, my vibe, and the way I’m recording them is a certain connection that keep them coming back.

How do you think about luck?
I’ve been blessed, honestly. I’m blessed to just be making music and making a living off it. I have worked with multiple successful, talented artists in the rap industry and that’s not an easy thing to do or land. I’ve just been blessed to meet the right meet people and building relationships with them that helped me get to where I am today.
