Today we’d like to introduce you to Deaundra Blanton.
Hi Deaundra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started traveling seven years ago and fell in love with island life. One of my favorite things to do to prepare for my trip was to find the perfect swimwear. As each trip came and went, I found it hard to find different pieces from what everyone was wearing and wanted to start my own line to give a fresh eye and different varieties of swimwear for the real everyday woman. So many times during the course of these previous seven years I would start, then life would happen, and I would stop.
I finally committed to releasing on my 30th birthday (2018) and started to prepare. Then life… lol, I ended up becoming pregnant and decided once again to push things off. After having a child, it became extremely difficult to have time for my dreams but in 2020, God made sure I had enough time on my hands and I knew I had no excuse and planned to execute my plan! I launched my online swimwear boutique in March 2021 and even though I’m only three months in I am more driven than ever. I have some hard days. Especially being a full-time mom and running my business but I truly enjoy it and can’t wait to see what the future holds for Dive In Swim.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, I’ve had to deal with figuring out how to juggle an 18-month old who demands attention, learn how to become a social media expert, a photographer, a content planner, a website designer, and anything else you can think of. The trouble of finding reliable vendors, losing money, quality products, late nights, days where I would only get 2/3 hours of sleep. It has been a huge adjustment.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t think luck has much to do with it. I work hard, even when things don’t go as planned, I learn and grow from those things. I look at the bad situations and use it as a chance to grow wiser. I listen to my audience and try to take care of them like they take care of me.
