Today we’d like to introduce you to Duwop.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born Xavier but everybody knows me as Duwop. I’m from Atlanta, Georgia. Seeing the glamour of fame inspired me to start rapping at a young age. When I let my family and friends listen to my music, they gave me a lot of positive feedback, which made me decide to take my rap career seriously. And the rest is history.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Losing my mom in 2019 was probably the hardest thing I’ve been through. I know she’s looking down on me and guiding me along the way, but I wish she was here to experience my success with me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m most proud to see how much my work has paid off. I put forth so much time, money, and energy being an artist and it’s nice actually making money from streams, performances, etc. It makes me want to grind harder. Outside of talent, I think what sets me apart from others is the people around me. Everybody in LMG (League Music Group) takes what they do seriously and it shows.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was the class clown and stayed in trouble *laughs*. I had a lot of energy so I was always talking about something. I loved to hoop and watched Saved By The Bell or Recess.
