Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatima Ann Butler.
Hi Fatima Ann, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My origin story starts in Queens. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I was surrounded by style, beauty, music culture, and pride. It wasn’t always about what you had — it was about how you claimed your space. That never left me.
I’ve spent over 20 years in beauty. Doing makeup for editorial work and campaigns for names like Paper Magazine, Verizon, Target, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Lord & Taylor — and for celebrities like Lizzo, Fantasia, and Anthony Hamilton.
A few years ago I made a deliberate pivot. I moved from NYC to Atlanta, and I became a Licensed Medical Esthetician and Assistant Laser Practitioner. Not a detour — a deepening. I selfishly wanted to learn what “the book said” about skincare and self-care. And then I wanted to teach my clients.
I now operate out of Restore Wellness Med Spa in Kirkwood, Atlanta, where the Glass Skin Facial and chemical peels have become my signature services. I’m also the Community Manager at The LOLA, Atlanta’s all-women’s coworking space — which keeps me rooted in exactly the community I’m building for.
That community, that work, and that Queens foundation are what I’m building my wellness community on. I’m still in the building phase — as a founder.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The transition from freelancer to founder has had its real ups and downs. Going from being booked on sets — where the work comes to you — to building a client-focused, culture-focused business from the ground up is a completely different skill set. Nobody hands you a roadmap.
There were moments I failed. Investments that didn’t land the way I planned. Pivots I had to make faster than I was ready for. But every time I fell short, I learned something. About business, about myself, and about what’s actually missing in beauty and wellness for the communities I come from.
That’s what keeps me going. Every stumble taught me a little more about what the culture needs — and how we as women, as a community, are evolving in the way we think about self-care, skin health, and wellness. I’m not just building a business. I’m building in response to something real.
We’ve been impressed with Fatima Ann Butler Consulting LLC , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I wear a few hats, and I’ve built them intentionally.
Through Fatima Ann Butler Consulting LLC, I work with beauty and wellness professionals on brand strategy, positioning, and growth. I help practitioners and entrepreneurs get clear on who they are, who they’re building for, and how to show up in a way that converts. That work lives at the intersection of beauty, brand, and business.
On the services side, I operate out of Restore Wellness Med Spa in Kirkwood, Atlanta, where I specialize in skin health. My signature offerings are the Glass Skin Facial and clinical chemical peels — results-driven treatments focused on barrier health, glow, and long-term skin transformation. For clients who want consistent access, I offer The Glow Club — a monthly membership that includes facial services, beauty education, and curated product recommendations.
For clients who want to go deeper, I offer a 3-month coaching experience — my highest-touch offer. It’s for the woman who is serious about her skin, her wellness routine, and building sustainable self-care habits with real professional guidance.
I carry Epicutis and AlumierMD, two clinical-grade lines I stand behind completely. If you want to book a service, grab a product, or start with a virtual consultation.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love about Atlanta is the creativity. This city is full of incredibly talented people — artists, entrepreneurs, beauty professionals, visionaries. The culture here is alive in a way that’s hard to explain until you’re in it. That energy is part of why I stayed.
But I’ll be honest about what I think needs work: the service industry, particularly in hospitality and beauty. Atlanta has so much potential, but client culture is still developing. Showing up on time, following through, communicating professionally, making people feel genuinely cared for — those things matter, and they’re not always the standard here yet.
That gap is actually part of what drives my work. If I can model what intentional, high-touch client care looks like in the beauty and wellness space, and teach other practitioners how to do the same — that’s how we elevate the whole city.
