Today we’d like to introduce you to Arlene Martin.
Arlene, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started styling hair in high school, that’s when my passion for the art of hair styling really started to ignite. I had found my creative side and from then on I knew I was destined to do something great in the beauty industry. As I continued in my craft, doors began to open for me, one after another and now I am on the climax of becoming one of the most talented hair design artists in the world.
Has it been a smooth road?
I think one of the biggest struggles I had to overcome was fear. Fear of “what if”, “what if I’m not good enough” or “what if I fail” etc. I had to do everything afraid. I had to say to myself, “so what, do it scared”. I overcame my fears. That was the best thing I could have ever done, overcoming my fears.
What role has luck had in your life and career?
I really am not a believer in luck, more so, I believe that hard work, determination, and persistence has played a key role in my success. I believe we are created to win and succeed so with that type of positive attitude, winning and succeeding is inevitable.
Is there a quality or characteristic that has played an outsized role in your success?
I always say that your attitude, character, and professionalism are the most important key elements of success.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Atlanta! I’ve lived here for nearly 20 years now and it’s never a dull moment, always something to do, many places to go and so many opportunities available. The least I like about Atlanta is the traffic lol.
