Hi Jeremiah, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
I am currently a rising Senior at Morehouse College. I was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was raised there as well as in Homewood, Illinois. I started writing when I was 11 and published my first book at 16. My hobbies include watching anime, writing, watching sports, and reading.
What is the purpose of your writing?
I write in order to inform, in order to create change, and in order to provide people with a perspective they may have not considered otherwise. Since I do not have a set genre, I do not have a single mission with my writing. I like to write books that critically analyze issues in society, but I also enjoy creating imaginative books that people can immerse themselves in.
How do you deal with writers block?
I deal with writers block by easing myself back into writing. I write a sentence, read it over, and try to see how I can improve the way its written. In addition, I also remind myself not to overthink what I’m writing, because oftentimes writer’s block is caused the misconception that everything a writer writes has to be perfect
What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working on a few projects. I am working on a book centered around valuation and one dealing with the dangers of capitalism. Both will feature black main characters.
What is your hope for your latest book?
My hope is that Little Black Boy will reach many people and bring more light to the issues black children face in the United States. I also want to see my book in schools and apart of curriculums that will cultivate young minds in the country. I want my latest book to completely out due all of my previous ones.
It was so great to reconnect. One last question – how can our readers connect with you, learn more or support you?
If readers want to learn more about me, they can visit my website jayddavis.com or my Instagram page @jdd_books. All of my books are on my website and my latest one is linked in the bio of my Instagram page. I appreciate everyone who shows support.
