Today we’d like to introduce you to Jevonte (Tay) Holland.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello my name is Jevonte Holland or most commonly known as “Tay2Wavy”. I am an 19-year-old photographer and videographer from Newnan, Georgia. I started off by falling in love with movies at a young age then I transitioned into doing stop-motion animations in middle school. By high school, I was taking film I and film II classes where I eventually earned an internship during my senior year of high school. As an intern, I filmed campus events and basketball games, capturing moments through professional video coverage.
After I graduated high school I got my first camera as a graduation gift and decided to take 1-2 years off going straight into college and fully focus on my passion of videography. I found my interest for photography shortly after that and the more I practiced the more I started to fall in love with my craft! I enrolled at the University of West Georgia because despite my accomplishments I feel as though I could grow creatively and as an entrepreneur.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Although the road has not been easy. I have had struggles in the when I have felt a deep sense of depression when I felt as if I was lonely and had too where to escape. Almost to the point where I attempted suicide, but some things that helped me get out of that stage was my love for film and photography, my family, and most importantly my faith in God.
Then, as I was going through the healing process I realized that life will always flow with ups and downs just as a wave does but no matter what you must strive to stay a float. That was when I decided to name my business “Tay2Wavy Productions” as a movement to make others feel their best selves through my visuals. No matter someone is going through I always want to push the motto of “Stay Wavy” as a reminder that you can get through whatever storm you are in.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most known for my photography and videography business known as “Tay2wavy Productions.” I specialize in shooting a mix of things such as, lifestyle, sports, studio sessions, events, and even concerts. Some of my accomplishments that I am most proud of is being a content media coordinator for a semi-pro basketball team (ANM Elite). Also by being Media Coordinator/personal camera man for CrowdCTRL ATL where I was able to capture big named artist such as, Jacqueece, Young Dro, Raq Baby, Akeem Ali, Belly Gang Kushington, Travis Porter, etc. Even an accomplishment such as traveling to different states with my profession is a blessing within itself.
While I am grateful for every award, opportunity, and trip my job has provided. Even with all that being said the thing that I am most proud of is capturing people and making them feel their best during the shoots and in a way I feel as if that what sets me a part from others because I care about making whoever books with me the most confident than when they arrived and it all ties back into helping them “Rise above their wave” and making them feel “wavy” also.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
The main thing that makes me happy is spending time with my family and spending my time with God. Photography and filmmaking brings me joy as well, but their are times when it does get stressful. Whenever I feel down I take my time to pray to God about whatever that is on my mind and take the other part of my time to spend with my family because they are a reminder of why I started and they always show the love I need whenever I am around them.
