Meet Katie Nisbett of Sacramento

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Nisbett.

Hi Katie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career running my own residential construction and design business, where I managed full home remodels from concept to completion. That experience gave me a strong foundation in project management, budgeting, and the building side of design.

From there, I transitioned into television, working as a design producer and art director on multiple HGTV shows. Over the past five years, I’ve had the opportunity to style and produce projects across the country, working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines while still delivering thoughtful, high-impact design.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have definitely been long hours and a lot of travel, especially working in television, but when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like a struggle—it feels like growth. The fast pace and constant movement pushed me to be adaptable, creative, and efficient. I’ve learned how to show up, deliver, and stay inspired no matter the environment, and that’s something I really value.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Art Director
I work as a behind-the-scenes “ghost” designer in reality TV, quietly shaping spaces and pulling every detail together to create what viewers see on screen.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I’d say be collaborative and stay open to learning from everyone around you. This industry moves fast, and there’s always something new to pick up—whether it’s from your team, a challenge on set, or a mistake. The more open, adaptable, and willing you are to grow, the stronger you’ll become creatively and professionally.
