The brand’s inception was a personal journey driven by a desire to bring dynamic and innovative styles to individuals seeking more than just clothing – they sought a sense of unity, personal growth, and positive change.
As a young entrepreneur, I navigated the intricate landscape of the fashion industry during my sophomore year in high school in New Orleans, learning the nuances of design, production, and brand building. The essence of PERFIK CIRCO lies in its commitment to authenticity and the bold expression of individuality. Our early days were marked by a blend of passion, finding, creativity, and a determination to create more than just garments; we aimed to create a movement.
In the early stages, challenges were abundant, but each obstacle was an opportunity for growth. From selecting materials to perfecting designs and even some failures, every decision was made with the brand’s values in mind. “Strive to be PERFIK, including the ones in your CIRCO” became more than a tagline; it embodied our commitment to encouraging people to be their authentic selves.
Social media became a crucial platform for us to share our stories and connect with a community that resonated with our values. The journey unfolded at Clark Atlanta University, where I pursued a major in Fashion and Merchandising and got a mentor who walked my exact shoes. The academic insights seamlessly blended with the practical experiences of running a growing brand.
The brand’s DNA is deeply rooted in the belief that fashion is a medium for storytelling. Each piece carries a narrative of unity, positivity, and the idea that together, we are better. As we grew, the vision expanded beyond online interactions. We aimed to host in-person events, pop-ups, and collaborations, fostering a tangible sense of community.
Looking forward, the vision for PERFIK CIRCO extends beyond being a clothing brand; it’s a cultural movement, a testament to the power of authenticity and self-expression. The story continues to evolve, but the roots remain firmly grounded in the initial dream of creating a brand that empowers individuals to embrace their uniqueness and inspire positive change.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey of PERFIK CIRCO has been a transformative ride, and while it kicked off smoothly with unwavering support from loved ones, challenges inevitably became part of the narrative. Embracing these challenges became essential for growth and resilience.
The early days involved hands-on experiences, like heat-pressing sweat pre-orders during my sophomore and junior years. These late-night sessions, though challenging, instilled a work ethic that has become integral to the brand’s ethos. The first major setback came with a harsh lesson: losing $1,000 in a scam from an overseas manufacturer. It was a painful but invaluable lesson in navigating the complexities of the industry.
The Mardi Gras season brought both inspiration and heartache. USPS losing 4-5 boxes of inventory meant the intended tribute to deceased freshmen for social change was marred. It was a tough moment, one that carried not just financial but emotional weight. The setbacks, however, fueled a determination to overcome and make a positive impact.
Experimenting with pre-orders had its learning curve, with success measured not just in numbers but in understanding the intricacies of logistics, refunds, shipping times, and chargebacks. Financial challenges, like an account balance hitting $1,000, prompted a strategic shift, seeking net terms from a trusted manufacturer.
The turning point arrived with the discovery of a winning product — the Better Together Pocket Sweatsuits. This marked a significant milestone, propelling PERFIK CIRCO to its first $10,000 month and subsequently reaching a remarkable $50,000 in a single month. The brand’s resilience, born from facing adversity, has become its strength, a testament to the belief that true growth occurs during rainy days.

I am a creative soul at the helm of PERFIK CIRCO, serving as both CEO and in pursuit of a Chief Marketing Officer role for the brand. My specialization lies in authenticity, channeling my true self to inspire, motivate, and influence through the vibrant foundation of Perfik Circo. My forte is crafting narratives that resonate emotionally, promoting a culture of togetherness, fun, and boldness with ingenious marketing strategies.
What fills me with pride is the unwavering consistency in discovering my passion and creative style through the journey with my brand. It’s a testament to my commitment to authenticity and becoming a figure that resonates with individuals worldwide. The story we’re crafting together with Perfik Circo is a source of immense pride, and having a brand that mirrors my personality—from the infectious smile in the logo to the positive vibes and lively designs—sets me apart. We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Certainly, the onset of the Covid-19 crisis brought about some pivotal lessons. As a freshman at that time, the necessity to stay indoors became an opportunity for self-discovery and personal development. It was during this period that I delved into activities that I genuinely enjoyed, such as reading books for personal growth, conceptualizing and discovering the name for my brand, exploring health benefits, and, most significantly, fostering a closer connection with my spirituality. This phase served as a crucial period for understanding my individuality and embracing self-discovery.
