Meet Latia Reese of Mahogany Pearl Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latia Reese.

Hi Latia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always loved fashion and clothing. When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming a model and fashion designer. However, in high school, I took an interest in the medical field, and I went to college and became a Registered Nurse. Even though I enjoy my career as a nurse, I always talked about starting a business of my own. People always asked me about the clothes I wear and complimented me on how I style things, so I thought it would be a good idea to start a clothing business with quality pieces that caters to women of all sizes.

During the beginning of the pandemic, I started nursing on the weekends only, allowing me time to start working on my business during the week. I admit I didn’t know what I was doing or where to start! I did a lot of research on my own, watched many videos, took some online courses, and just jumped out there and did it! I launched Mahogany Pearl Collection online clothing boutique in September 2020. The boutique is named after my two daughters. Pearl is a family name that’s been in my family for many generations. The boutique is doing well; we’re growing and improving every month! We load great new arrivals weekly on our website! We provide fast, next-day shipping! I love providing quality clothing and good customer service to my customers! I love and appreciate the support, the kind messages, and the great reviews from my customers! It brings me so much joy!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No! I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth ride, but I will say it has been a great experience! Being that I didn’t have a mentor or someone showing or assisting me on what to do, I had to research and figure it out on my own. It’s definitely been a learning experience, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Mahogany Pearl Collection is a chic online women’s clothing boutique, who provides quality clothing to everyday women of all sizes. We provide fast next-day shipping! We ship nationwide. We value our customers and love their feedback! That’s what I’m most proud of! We send discount codes to our subscribed customers. We provide free shipping on all orders $75 and up. We offer multiple payment options, including shop now, pay later options using Quadpay, Shop Pay or Sezzle!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Consistency is very important! You have to be consistent with quality, with your ads, and your social media presence. You have to be consistent with providing great customer service! Your customers expect that same level of service and quality all the time, with each interaction and with every purchase!
