Today we’d like to introduce you to Layla Walker and Ebony Williamson of Sugarushh.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We started out doing bangles for our friends. We went from two requests a week to 15. We knew then that we were on to something. We saw the trend on social media of the growing bangle business and noticed that no one was really doing beaded bracelets or offering wholesale. That’s when we came up with “Sugarushh.” No one was willing to offer wholesale or custom orders, so we did. That’s what makes us unique from other people in the business. We now have contracts with several fashion boutiques and a growing number of people inspiring to start their own bangles business.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been easy. Since our growth, we have struggled to keep up with the demand while attending school. Our website is never stocked. We sell out within in hours of releasing new inventory.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in what we call “Junk Beaded Bracelets.” Basically, we get three beaded bracelets and pile as many charms on them as possible. Each one is unique and can almost never be duplicated. We also offer a wide array of women and kids accessories from hats, belts, and jewelry and are now expanding to offer Men accessories. The thing that sets us apart from others in the business is that we offer wholesale and custom orders.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We are high school students and we are sisters.
