Meet Lil Vyl of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lil Vyl.

Hi Lil, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hip-Hop and I found each other very early on through introductions via my mom or two uncles I credit with peaking my interests. It just compounded through my own research and exposure through experiences.

Prior to ATL’s notorious Trap sound, New York style rap music played a major role in my love and I became a student of the game.

My family has always been supportive from my mom and my grandmother taking me to open mics to my cousins being my first fans.

Since 14-15, I was rapping under the alias Double Dee, Vylan James, and eventually settled on the artist name Lil Vyl.

I dropped my debut project Supa Vylan in 2017 where I have since continuously developed my craft, skill, and networking circle to facilitate my goals. I’m now a part of a collective called Vylan Radio, which is a group of independent artists who have collaborated heavily throughout the years.

Some of the best aspects of my music is I still create with friends from high school almost a decade later like Fat King! Music

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road with challenges like the previous pandemic, personal losses, shifts in the industry, and general stuff that comes with the hustle.

We wake up and keep trying with new approaches and attitudes until the goal is met.

A lot of my friends have died or been incarcerated which can make the world feel like a lonely place at times. When you are younger everyone has a spark that just makes stuff easy, but as you get older, individuals tend to lose that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a hip-hop artist and producer from the south side of Atlanta. Where I come from plays a major roll in my sound and approach to the game.

I like to promote entrepreneurship through my music and have recently been collaborating with Dope Coffee, a coffee company that blends Hip-Hop, culture, and community. That company has been helping me spread my message of going from selling “Dope to Dope” a campaign meant to showcase the benefits of being a business owner legally over criminal activity.

How do you define success?
The insatiable appetite in me wouldn’t know
