Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Bryant.
Hi Lindsey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Acid Drop Designs brand originated in 2021 in my garage after many weeks of brainstorming ways to develop a passion project and creative outlet. I work full-time as an engineer, so I spend most of my time being really technical and quantitative, but I thrive when I’m creative. As a strong advocate for women’s empowerment, I mentor female students in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the Jiu-Jitsu School that I own with my husband. I love being on the mats and working out, and I really wanted a way to channel my creativity into something that would inspire women to be bold and unapologetic. I think there is something indescribably beautiful about a woman feeling confident, and so I set out to create that feeling with every piece I design.
Right now, my business is beginning to grow and thrive. We just finished our biggest photoshoot that we’ve ever done for my next few collection launches. I’ll be expanding what I offer, including some completely new offerings and some accessories made from up-cycled scrap fabric leftover from when I crop shirts. I’m really excited to release everything I’ve been working on; it feels like being a kid on Christmas morning when I see someone wearing one of my designs.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think with anything, there are mental obstacles, those feelings of inadequacy and second-guessing yourself. I’ve definitely had moments where I’ve doubted myself and thought, “am I crazy for investing time and money into this business?” It can be scary and vulnerable to create something and release it into the world because you really don’t know how it’s going to be received. But at the end of the day, I remind myself that I really believe in my mission, what my brand represents, and the quality of my work. So I kept showing up and betting on myself, even on the days when I had no orders and no growth on social media. And so far, it’s been paying off.
As you know, we’re big fans of Acid Drop Designs. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I create reverse-dyed lifestyle apparel, unlike anything you can find elsewhere. I design and dye every individual piece by hand. I take clothes that are comfortable and make them stylish and striking. Pieces that you can throw on for just about anything and look put together, but that are so comfortable you don’t want to take them off. When you feel confident in how you look (what you wear), it makes you carry yourself differently – more fearless and self-assured. These pieces are meant to be lived in a while kicking ass: in the gym, as a mom, in school, at your job, in LIFE. Female empowerment is the cornerstone of my brand, and it’s my personal mission to bring that fire and inspiration to everyone who wears my clothes.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m based in Athens, Georgia but I’m primarily an online business and sell all of my designs through my website. I regularly launch new collections but don’t always restock when a piece sells out so I always recommend not waiting to purchase something if you love it when you see it. I also work with organizations and groups to create custom pieces with embroidered or screen-printed logos.
