Today we’d like to introduce you to Oluwafunmilayo Ajao.

Hi Oluwafunmilayo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My photography journey began right after I graduated from university in Lagos, Nigeria. I started from scratch, with no mentor or guide to help me navigate the industry. It wasn’t always easy, but with faith in God, determination, and a positive mindset, I kept pushing forward.

One of my proudest early moments was receiving my very first booking through a referral. It felt incredibly rewarding because it was a sign that my work was making an impact and that I was doing something right.

A few years later, life took me on a new adventure when I moved to Scotland with my husband. Today, we call Atlanta home, where we are raising our beautiful daughter, Lauren. Motherhood has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life, and alongside it, I’ve had the opportunity to rebuild and grow my photography brand in this vibrant city.

Looking back, the journey has been filled with growth, challenges, and blessings. From starting with nothing in Lagos to building a life and business abroad, every step has shaped me into the photographer and woman I am today.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been an easy journey. It has taken countless hours of hard work, determination, resilience, and an unwavering belief in myself. There were moments when the challenges felt overwhelming but giving up was never an option.

In the span of just a few years, I’ve had to rebuild my photography business not once, but twice. Starting over from the ground up is never easy especially when you’re entering a new environment and building a client base from scratch. But every challenge has strengthened me, taught me valuable lessons, and reminded me why I started in the first place.

If I had to do it all over again, I would. Because every setback has been part of the journey, and every step forward has been worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a lifestyle and wedding photographer, and back in Lagos, Nigeria, many people knew me as the “Queen of Nightlife” because I was always out capturing the energy, stories and unforgettable moments that came alive after dark.

Now, I’m stepping into a new chapter. As I continue building my brand in this beautiful city and country, I want to be known as the Best Wedding and Lifestyle photographer who creates timeless images and unforgettable experiences.

When I look back on my journey, I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come and everything I’ve been able to accomplish. Every challenge, every restart, and every milestone has shaped me into the photographer I am today.

What truly sets me apart is who I am both as a person and as a creative. I’m passionate about storytelling and finding beauty in the moments others might overlook. I love creating meaningful, authentic and unconventional imagery that reflects the heart of every story. My attention to detail, combined with my ability to connect with people, allows me to capture moments in a way that feels genuine, emotional, and timeless.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Succes to me is seeing my clients happy and feeling beautiful in every possible moment. Success is finding peace and being authentically me
