Meet Raven Cursh of Beauteous Braids

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Cursh.

Hi Raven, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Raven Cursh and I’m from a small town where dreams usually do not become a reality. I am from Ashdown, Arkansas where the population is roughly around 4500. When I graduated high school in 2015, I joined the military and my journey begins. I was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky for three and a half years. While in the service, I had my son Prince who is my pride, joy, and my motivation. Once I got discharged from the military me and my son prince moved to Phoenix, Arizona. While in Arizona, I obtained my Dental Assistant Certificate and began working on dentistry while studying at Grand Canyon University, majoring in Biology.

While I found interest in dentistry, I knew I had a bigger passion and I wanted to fulfill it. I have been braiding since I was 11 years old. It was just like second nature to me. It always felt so natural. One day I woke up and realized I had to live out my dreams so I took a leap out on faith and moved out of my apartment in Phoenix in literally one day and drove 26 hours to Atlanta, Georgia. I began posting my work on social media and I was surprised with all of the traffic I was getting. I was a home-based braider for a couple of months before getting my suite at Phenix Salon Suites. Now my business, Beauteous Braids LLC, is up and running and always accepting new clients. I am so grateful for where I am now, as well as who I am becoming. I know the future is holding many more opportunities and I am striving to get there.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been the total opposite of smooth. I face challenges while being a single mom with no family in the state of Georgia. It’s hard when you have no help.

We’ve been impressed with Beauteous Braids, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in all types of hair braiding. I am here to enhance your natural crown and make you feel beauteous. I provide excellent customer service that is unforgettable.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along the way is to just keep going! With or without support, just keep on trusting yourself. Your intuition will guide you.
