Meet Rebecca Suggs of Becca Anne Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Suggs.

Hi Rebecca, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my online boutique my junior year in college. I went to a school in the middle of nowhere, and the closest store that sold clothes was Walmart. I instantly thought that I should bring clothes to campus for girls to wear for college events. I’ve always had a love for fashion, and it was also something I majored in, so starting it was nothing.

Once I graduated from college, I realized it was something I really love doing, so I started to take it more seriously and started to research more ways to expand my brand. That’s when I relaunched Becca Anne in 2019, and it’s been growing into something I couldn’t imagine. Currently, I’ve moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, California to continue to grow my business. I’ve been her for almost a year now, and it was one of the best decisions I could have made.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing about starting a business is easy. You definitely have your bumps, and you have your moments when you think if you should even be in business, but the key is to never give up. It might sound cliche, but you really have to believe in yourself and be consistent. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and when you fully understand that and continue to do what you love without looking for any money, that’s when things start to happen for you. I’m still in the growing phase of my business and I definitely get discouraged a lot and want to give up. When those moments come, I just have to sit back and reflect on how much I’ve grown from when I first started to now and tell myself every day that my time is coming I just have to be patient.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Becca Anne Boutique was created to make women feel more confident. I wanted to sell unique pieces that you couldn’t find anywhere. I pride myself on selling pieces that you’ll never see someone else wearing if you were in the same room. I think I’m proud of my growth and how so many women around the world are wearing my clothes. I started off just selling to girls on campus now, I’m selling to women all over the world. It’s an amazing feeling.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Never be afraid to ask for help! I was never afraid to ask for help from my peers, especially from women who were in the same industry and who are successful with their businesses.
