Meet Reneise Ross of Ensayne Provisions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reneise Ross.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story is ever-evolving; I’ve always known that my hands were my gift. I began cooking at the age of five with my great-grandmother Lillian and started pursuing my career in Culinary Arts in 2003 by attending The Art Institute of Atlanta. I’ve worked for many notable and prominent restaurants and chefs in this industry in addition to traveling the world, honing my skills, and perfecting my craft. I started as a student and continue to be a student. I never think I know it all, and I’m always willing to learn.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all, but in all honesty, what dream is? I’m 4’11 and very petite, plus I’m a woman in a field that for many years has been male-dominated. I’m always the underdog who always rises to the top. My height is a challenge in many kitchens, but I overcame that obstacle because I’ve been this stature all of my life. At first glance, it’s easy to misjudge this book by its cover, but I’m physically and mentally strong. This particular self-awareness is my secret weapon and it’s a dangerous combo in any field.

I’ve dealt with setbacks, loss, and depression. You don’t have any control over what life deals you sometimes. You can only control how you respond. You’re responsible for showing up in your life, every day. You have to make it happen. I’ve been blessed to have such an amazing support system, including family to true, genuine friends. When others believe in your dreams, understand your calling, and value your worth, they will push you. They won’t allow you to give up. They will speak life over you and encourage you. I’m grateful for my support system. They are amazing. I’m not Chef Reneise without them.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Ensayne Provisions is a powerhouse that encompasses SugarFoots, Lillian’s, Ensayne Physique, and the Chef Reneise brand. SugarFoots is my specialty cake and dessert line that I founded for individuals with dietary restrictions and diabetes. Lillian’s, my catering company, specializes in Clean, Kosher, and Heart Healthy cuisine. Ensayne Physique provides meal prep and lunch service. Lastly, the Chef Reneise brand is for my upcoming cookbook, autobiography, and speaking engagements.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Every day and every moment is an opportunity to network. My personality and character have attracted people to me before my craft. Your presence is the first thing people notice, so be cognizant of the energy you are putting out. Talk to strangers; you never know who someone is or who they are linked to. Windows and doors always open through conversation. I truly believe your vibe attracts your tribe.
