Meet Robyn Davis of Robyn’s Southern Nest in Canton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Davis.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Robyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I first started my blog Robyn’s Southern Nest as a way to document how we made our first house a home. I loved to share easy ways to decorate while on a budget. Whether that was going to the thrift store or finding clearance items on the weekends. I have a love of refinishing furniture, so a lot of the pieces in our home were items that I painted and brought back to life. There is something so gratifying about that. I can remember rearranging my room as a child and taking pictures on my disposable camera (showing my age). Fast forward 20 something years and I find myself doing the same thing as my career. I love inspiring people through home decor. Working with the home decor community is so rewarding and I’m so happy to finally have found my true passion in life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think the one thing that people don’t realize unless you’re “in it” is how much time and work goes into being a blogger. It’s not just about taking a picture and posting it. From the outside, it may seem easy, but behind the scenes, it’s a process, but I love every aspect of it. You also can’t expect to make money right off the bat. You have to develop and find your niche first and foremost. This will help you to create an audience. I’ve been doing this for three years and it’s still not easy. So, just keep that in mind if you are just starting off. Don’t give up! Keep at it!

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a home decor blogger for Robyn’s Southern Nest. I show my audience how to achieve a style for their homes without breaking the bank. I see it as a challenge to find a bargain while still keeping a certain aesthetic. I love showing people that they can do it themselves.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
This list would literally go on for days! My husband first and foremost. He is my rock who continues to support my small business. The home decor community as a whole is filled with so many wonderful and inspiring and supportive people. Just the other day a friend of mine on Instagram sent me a voice message cheering me on, and that truly meant the world to me. Never in my professional life have I had such support in a community like this. It’s seriously the only niche that is willing to share and promote other bloggers. And I love that!
