Meet Sanaa Bygrave of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sanaa Bygrave.

Hi Sanaa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am Sanaa Bygrave, a junior at Clark Atlanta University studying Fashion Merchandising. My journey began back when I was 8 years old. My mom was putting me in any extracurricular activities that intrigued me. One stuck out among them all: my sewing classes. Learning how to sew opened up doors for me that I didn’t know existed. Fashion became my life. I continued my passion for fashion through middle and high school. I attended pre-college classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology, studying fashion styling, photography, fine arts, and fashion illustration. FIT was my dream school, and it remained so for 9 years. I ultimately decided to attend Clark Atlanta University at the last minute. The culture was different from what I knew, and I loved it. I am now a 2-time dean’s list scholar, on track to launch my very own business, a fashion magazine. I have created so many great connections along the way. A girl from New York living out her stylish Atlanta life, jumping hurdles, falling, and getting back up better than ever.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been rough but doable. I struggled with my mental health during my high school career, which caused me to take a break from my craft to focus on myself. I am lucky to have a great support system like my mom, who always believed I would do something great. I do still find myself doubting what I am capable of as a creative, but I dont stay in such a slump for long, as my will to succeed is far greater than any doubt I may have.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a creative director and the founder of my own fashion magazine. I dabble in photography, but I wouldn’t call myself a photographer. My specialty is creative directing, which is what led me to want to launch a magazine. I cannot speak too much about the magazine, as the official launch is not until later this year, but what I will say is that fashion is art, art is fashion, and this magazine aims to push that notion further while bringing people together. I am known as a Creative, I love to create in all forms of art that I can. Photography, fine arts, pottery, modeling, etc., I try my best to do it all. I am proud of my ability to create in different art forms; it is like speaking multiple languages to me. I have the will to succeed; this, for me, is not a late-night thought that gets put off for the next day. I work hard every day for what I want: to succeed in my craft.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
