Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Jones
Hi Simone , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands & staying busy with multiple tasks. Before I got into the addictive world of jewelry making I also tried other crafts such as wood working. That’s when I knew that whatever I was going to do it would be creating things. It didn’t take long for me to realize that, that wasn’t going to be one of them. To this day I give credit to God because all I remember is waking up and saying “I’m going to learn how to make jewelry.” Before that day creating jewelry wasn’t on my to do list.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t but I’ve learned to look at failures or tough times as growing pains. Growing Love These Creations has been an interesting journey and one of my biggest struggles has been perfectionism. As a small business owner with big dreams & goals how LTC (short for Love These Creations) is represented & presented is important. Other struggles such as: exposure, rejection to sales, & hagglers make the list too but that’s also just a part of business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Although I’m generally known for making jewelry, my specialty is creating photo jewelry in the form of bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings & anklets. Honestly, I’m most proud of my progress in my craft. When I look back at my sold pieces it amazes me at how far I’ve come. I believe what sets me apart is 1 my customer service & 2 my products. Most of my clientele is of families who have lost a loved one(s.) Those are very delicate conversations to have and I don’t want to cause any further grief. Most of the time my clients confide in me during those moments & it’s my honor to listen, offer words of encouragement & make sure they’re satisfied. Also, my ability to provide many different styles is something I take pride in.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Everyone’s journey & goals for their business is different. The best advice I can offer is to just do it and see what happens. Finding a mentor for the vision I had was difficult & I didn’t find one- so I became one. Im often surprised at the opportunities that arise when “I just do it.” Sitting on ideas and pondering them without action is a disservice to oneself. Trust your vision & just do it but don’t expect a smooth road, because it’s not. You won’t know until you try and you won’t learn until you fail.
