Meet Lindsey Borders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Borders.

Lindsey, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for entertainment, specifically film and music. However, I enjoy all facets of entertainment, believe many of them go hand-in-hand, and these also include actors, entrepreneurs, painters, authors and more. I began in 2007 when I decided I wanted to start booking musicians in Atlanta, and my first clients were Mark Ballas and Derek Hough from their first season on the hit television show “Dancing With the Stars.” Their band was called Almost Amy, and while they were on the “Dancing With the Stars” tour, I booked them in four major cities, successfully selling out each one. From there, I also worked with Bobby Long of “Twilight” fame, and booked him in Atlanta, along with a private event where he earned $6K from it alone. During this time, I started a blog, Talent In Borders, and began writing about the artists I worked with, including artists I had discovered and enjoyed listening to. Shortly afterwards, I also worked with the founder of Sofar Sounds, Rafe Offer, in reviewing music submissions from various singer-songwriter’s and bands to determine the line-up fit for Sofar Sounds’ live shows. My writing has spanned to 13 years now and has also given me the great privilege of having interviewed some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, including Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, Jake Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet, James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins, actress Beth Hall (Mad Men, Mom), author Anna Todd (After) and actor Chris McNally (When Calls the Heart), among countless others.

With Talent In Borders, I have worked as a writer, manager, tour manager, publicist and event coordinator. My beginning with entertainment began as a young teen, and have since provided set decoration assistance for an independent film, appeared as a background extra on “One Tree Hill,” “Big Momma’s House 2,” and worked on Tyler Perry’s “Madea’s Family Reunion.” I’m truly passionate about what I do, and love connecting individually with the talent I feature, along with making a lasting connection and impression.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of the struggles were when I began booking musicians. I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find a venue to book, along with determining financial obligations. Working in entertainment is a difficult industry to work in, but maintaining professionalism and never burning your bridges, goes a long way. Having backbone and grit to sustain has kept me moving forward and continuing my passion.

Please tell us about your work.
My company is Talent In Borders, and I specialize in providing features with news, interviews, premieres, reviews and much more. I’m known for managing and partnering with artists and musicians to reach their short and long-term professional goals. I’m a mentor, communicator and problem solver, and love to build successful professional and personal relationships. What I’m most proud of is the emphasis placed on the talent I feature, including the sustaining relationships I’ve made. I’ve been told by many, many people, and truly believe what sets me apart from others is that I truly care about the artist as an individual and the creativity they are using and making. We all have dreams and aspirations, and if I can help shine a light on that in a positive and fruitful way, then my heart is truly happy.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to keep building Talent In Borders with features of successful talent and to expand my network to include and partner with more actors, actresses, painters, entrepreneurs and visionaries. I look forward to Talent In Borders expanding and becoming a household name, knowing that we strive and care immensely for the talent we promote and work with.
