Meet Talia Mejia of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Talia Mejia.

Hi Talia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a proud Colombian, born in New Jersey but raised in Georgia, where I’ve spent most of my life. My journey has always been about balancing passion with purpose. During my junior year of college, I welcomed my first son, a milestone that fueled my drive to succeed. By my senior year, I was already stepping into the professional world as a Marketing Manager for OrderUp, graduating in 2014 with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Business Management.

Over the past 12 years, I’ve led marketing teams and mastered every channel in the book. Ive traveled across the world to teach businesses how to optimize their social media strategies. Along the way, I also founded a marketing agency where I led marketing for businesses across Wellness, Manufacturing, Service/ Hospitality, Telecommunications, Coaching, and more! Then, life led me down another path where I discovered a new passion. About six years ago, I fell in love with Reiki energy healing and found a deep passion for helping others heal from the inside out. So now, I juggle both!

Today, my life is beautifully full. I’m a mom to two incredible boys (we welcomed our youngest in 2022!), and alongside my wonderful husband, Jake, I navigate the rewarding worlds of strategic marketing, energetic healing, and motherhood.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has been incredibly rewarding, though it was far from smooth. Welcoming my son while still in college was a massive turning point. Instead of slowing me down, the motivation to build the best possible life for him became my superpower. It drove me to stay ahead of the curve, persevere through the long nights, and unlock incredible career opportunities right out of the gate. Another invaluable tool in my toolkit has been my fluent Spanish, which has opened doors and allowed me to connect with people on a deeply meaningful level throughout my life and career.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear a few different hats, but they all center around the same thing: connection.

Professionally, I work in marketing and communications. My work focuses on helping organizations and industry leaders tell compelling stories, build meaningful relationships, and create platforms where people can learn, collaborate, and grow. I’m known for translating complex topics into engaging content and experiences that resonate with both technical and business audiences.

Outside of my professional life, I am a mother, and motherhood has shaped the way I approach both work and life. It has strengthened my ability to lead with empathy, stay adaptable, prioritize what matters most, and find balance in environments that are often fast-paced and demanding. Some of my proudest accomplishments aren’t tied to a title or campaign; they’re found in raising my children while continuing to grow personally and professionally.

I’m also a Reiki practitioner, which has deepened my understanding of energy, mindfulness, and the importance of creating space for healing and self-awareness. Reiki has influenced how I show up in the world, helping me bring a sense of presence, intuition, and compassion to both my professional relationships and personal interactions.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to integrate these different parts of my life rather than keeping them separate. Marketing allows me to connect people through stories. Motherhood teaches me patience, resilience, and unconditional love. Reiki reminds me to stay grounded and aligned with my purpose. Together, they have shaped a unique perspective that blends strategy with intuition, ambition with compassion, and professional success with personal fulfillment.

What sets me apart is my belief that meaningful impact comes from authentic connection. Whether I’m developing a marketing campaign, supporting my family, or helping someone find greater balance and clarity, I strive to create experiences that are thoughtful, human-centered, and transformative.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When it comes to finding a mentor, I don’t believe mentorship always has to be formal. Some of the most influential mentors in my life may not even realize the impact they’ve had on me. I’ve learned by observing how people lead, asking thoughtful questions, staying curious, and maintaining relationships over time. Rather than looking for one person who has all the answers, I’ve benefited from having different mentors for different areas of my life, career, motherhood, personal growth, and spiritual development.
