Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Duncan.
Hi Tammy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Pasta Milani started in the place that holds some of my dearest memories, my grandmother’s kitchen. She was born in Castelvecchio, a small province in Italy, and brought with her a deep love for feeding people and for the kind of simple, honest food that brings everyone to the table. Growing up, I watched her roll out pasta by hand, no shortcuts, no preservatives, just flour, eggs, and love. It wasn’t about making something elaborate. It was about making something real.
Years later, after settling in Atlanta and starting a family of my own, I found myself returning to those recipes. I missed that connection to something slower, something more intentional. I started making pasta at home, at first just for us, then for friends, and eventually, I took a chance and brought it to a farmers market. That one market turned into a full season, and before I knew it, there were lines of people coming back for that same feeling: joy, comfort, ease.
From those early weekends at the markets, Pasta Milani has grown into something I never could’ve imagined. We now supply local shops and restaurants, continue to show up every weekend at Atlanta’s farmers markets, and just launched our new website where we’re now offering nationwide shipping.
At the heart of everything is still my grandmother’s legacy. She taught me that feeding people is an act of love, and that’s what we’re doing every day. Making it easier for busy families to enjoy something that’s both wholesome and rooted in tradition. And the best part? We’re just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of our biggest challenges has been figuring out how to ship frozen pasta without compromising our core values. We’re committed to using no preservatives and keeping everything frozen rather than shelf-stable, which is the most natural way to preserve food without sacrificing quality. But that choice adds a lot of complexity to the shipping process.
We’ve spent a lot of time researching packaging, dry ice, and insulation that could ship our pasta in perfect condition. It took trial and error, but I stayed committed to doing it the right way.
Today, we’re proud to say we’re shipping regionally through our new website. It’s a big step, and one that lets us bring real, handmade pasta to more homes, without ever compromising on what matters most to us.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pasta Milani?
Pasta Milani is an artisan frozen pasta company based in Braselton, rooted in my grandmother’s recipes from her hometown of Castelvecchio, Italy. We craft small-batch, preservative-free pasta using just a few simple ingredients, always with the goal of helping busy families enjoy a beautiful, satisfying meal without the stress.
We specialize in frozen pasta and sauces that cook in minutes and taste like they were made from scratch that day. What sets us apart is our commitment to tradition and quality. We don’t use shortcuts, fillers, or shelf-stable preservatives.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Social media has played a huge role in our growth. It’s helped people discover us, connect with our story, and understand what makes our pasta special. For a small brand without a storefront, that kind of visibility has been pivitol.
It’s also been an amazing way to build community. We’ve met so many like-minded small businesses through Instagram. Those connections have turned into real friendships, collaborations, and a support system that makes the journey feel a lot less lonely.
Sharing behind-the-scenes moments, market days, and family recipes has helped people feel personally connected to the brand. That connection has been key to building trust and growing our customer base in a very real, organic way.
