Hi Tirzah, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
My name is Tirzah and I’m the founder of 2 goats + 2 acres. I started my company because I wanted to create a healthier option for body and self-care products for me and my family.

When I’m not working on my business, I’m busy being an educator and a fur mom to our full house of pets.

What is your favorite and least favorite thing about being a small business owner?
My favorite thing about being a small business owner is having a creative outlet. Close family and friends know that I’m an artist at heart and being able to create a beautiful tangible thing brings me joy.

My least favorite thing is when the imposter syndrome kicks in and I have to remind myself that we all have to start somewhere.

How did you come up with the name of your company?
When my husband and I decided to purchase our first home, we had a very short list of requirements. No more than a 20-minute commute to work, two bathrooms and two or more acres. At that time we only had two dogs and two cats. That quickly became four rescue dogs, three formerly stray cats and two goats.

One night while drawing in a sketchbook, I started drawing little doodles of all our pets and future garden layouts. At the time the goats were young and great about putting themselves to bed at night. This particular night I heard them making their goaty noises and for whatever reason, I said “huh, I finally have my two goats and two acres”.

Can you describe/outline your typical day?
I’m not a morning person but having a full house of pets forces you to be one. Depending on who wakes up first, the pups are taken out and our day has started. Since I am a teacher, my day starts with a daily Zoom meeting. That is usually followed by grading assignments, emailing parents and lesson plans. Then its grab a cup of coffee and get a workout in before my first class of the day.

Depending on my to do list, I may get some household chores in, review online orders, sit with the goats, etc.

Our evenings are pretty relaxed and you can usually find us on the front deck listening to a podcast or music while the pets roam the yard.

What was your key driving force to become an entrepreneur?
I like a challenge. Generally, I’m a creature of habit and starting/running a business gets me out of my comfort zone. Starting my business has also provided a creative outlet for me, which was something I was missing at the time.
