Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Kay.
Tori, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started playing the piano when I was six and singing when I was 13. My brother is nine years older than me and played the piano so he inspired me to start playing and watching Zendaya on Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up” was the reason I started singing. Now that I am 18, I have been in the music industry and writing my own songs for five years.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The entertainment industry can be so difficult to experience. Rejection is definitely hard and the difficult thing about it is that you have to go through it a couple of times before you know how to deal with it. In this industry, you have to always keep a positive mindset so every time I’m rejected, I tell myself that every “no” is closer and closer to my “yes.”
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I have three singles dropping by the end of the year that I’m very excited about! I am also touring with the SOS Foundation in April/May of 2021.
