Today we’d like to introduce you to Yosef Badi.
Hi Yosef, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I first started having an interest in this field (videography/photography), I was in high school specifically in the 9th grade. I took a class for a year of editing and shooting. The next time I touched a camera was when I was 25 and I was also a DJ in the DMV area. I started promoting clubs by doing short videos of highlights and some pictures to post on Instagram. I was shooting four times a week, Thursday through Sunday and I always had to edit and post the day after the shoot. The workflow got me used to editing fast and being creative and then I went on to shooting concerts and music videos. Now I have my own company, which is called We Unlimited Production and we shoot photos and videos of all types of events. We do a lot of weddings and music videos at this time. We are still growing and learning.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been some obstacles when I started my business, but dedication and commitment was the key for success. One of the challenges was finding customers and putting your name out there but social media has been a great help.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a videographer and photographer. I specialize in videography. People know me for my music videos and wedding videos. What I am most proud of is the time and creativity I put in to shoot and edit videos. What sets me apart is my color grading skill and my editing style.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I grew up in Ethiopia until I was 11 and all the memories I have of my childhood was precious. I try to go back to the motherland as much as possible.
