Nkechi May-Nzeribe of Alpharetta on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Nkechi May-Nzeribe shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Nkechi, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Curating my home space to be both a sanctuary and a work-from-home space, without making the space feel too much like one or the other.

Feels nice to be able to separate church and state like that… home edition. Lol

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I’m Kicki,

A brand consultant and a home renovation advisor / enthusiasts.

As a brand consultant, my work is all about helping brands tell their story and vision in profitable ways by maintaining positive brand association and resonance with customers.

My journey started with my dad who was into advertising and ran an agency of his own. I helped him out with work sometimes , like typing out presentations and getting to ask questions about the creative directionand rationale behind the brief / proposed execution.

What makes this work special to me is the unique approach I’ve been able to formulate, using my background in advertising, software engineering and business management to craft and deliver a well rounded perspective / solution for my client goals and aspirations.

Right now, I’m focused on also building my passion for interior renovations and home remodels. Afterall, when you’ve finished making your dreams come to life outdoors, you’ve gotta come home to a sanctuary that helps you rest and reset in every way possible.

I’m excited to keep building something that not only reflects my vision but also brings real value to others.”

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I’ll say my parents… easy.

They always encouraged us to have dreams but also guided us into having practical plans to achieve them.

No matter how many ideas fell by the way, they were still just as excited for us about the next thing we decided to be passionate about.

That kind of unwavering (and yet grounding) confidence was a real emotional and mental building block for everything I’ve been able to achieve and still hope to.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
…when i realised “No one is coming to save me”.

I think we all reach that moment in life where you realise, everyone has stuff they are dealing with and dont always have the bandwidth to show up for us the way we want them to.

You also realise no one anywhere, has a solution. We are all just figuring life out as we go along.

So while sad and bad things happens, you have to feel your feels then pick yourself up and forge on.

There’s literally no other option

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The concept of “The real me” is very relative …

I think every version of me that exists in the eyes or minds of people is probably real or true on some level.

We are reactive beings afterall and we relate with people differently based on moods, context, circumstance and other conscious and unconscious factors…

So whatever people think they know, probably has an element of truth or realism to it. That’s how they probably experienced me directly or indirectly.

Same way, I’m also a very private person, so I am comfortable being both a hero, victim or villain in anyone’s story.

That’s why I say the concept of “The real me” is very relative …

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Taking more chances and risk. Playing it too safe. I need to put myself out there more and be more confident about everything I currently have to offer mentally, skillfully, emotionally etc.
