Rising Stars: Meet Amber Spears

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Spears.

Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a country girl who loves food. Food has always been an essential part of my upbringing and most gatherings I’ve attended. Whether it is a family gathering, church event, baby shower or party with friends, what’s on the menu is always a question asked. I grew up fishing and was taught to cook early, so exposure to food in this way caused my love for food to begin. This love leads me on a quest in search of the best dining experiences and the urge explore different types of food while doing it. In 2019, I started a blog to share those experiences, through my lens, with others. My photo and video food blog, @southernbellefoodie89 can be found on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok and reaches over 10k people weekly. I focus on bringing you the “southern style tea” on restaurants in the metro Atlanta area and abroad.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Blogging has not always been a smooth road. I’ve had to overcome constantly comparing my blog to other food blogs that had more followers or the blogs I really liked. I also felt insecure at times when I lost followers, causing me to want to change my style. I overcame the obstacle when I finally decided to be true to me and the style that I’ve chosen. I realized that it’s okay to lose followers and to just focus on the ones I’ve gained. I’ve also struggled with staying consistent with posting at times but understanding how important consistency is to my success and the encouragement of friends and family is what now motivates me daily.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in providing a visual preview of restaurants and food events through pictures and video, helping people find where they want to eat and things to do. I am most proud of the quality content, clear, crisp pictures and creativity that I put into each review that I give. What sets me apart from others is my southern etiquette, that encourages me to only post reviews on restaurants that can be accompanied with positivity. I do not share negative reviews, so if the restaurant was not recommendable in my honest opinion, I will not post a review. I was taught that if I don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned along my journey is to always be true myself, confident in my style and to stay consistent
