Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Clare.
Hi Brian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The Wandering Photo Camper is owned and operated by a dedicated group of friends—nine of us, to be precise—who took a leap together and purchased the business at the end of 2021. Our friendships stretch back anywhere from 10 to 20 years (and in some cases, even longer), but this venture has been a brand-new adventure.
What started as a shared love for creativity, community, and doing things a little differently has grown into something truly special. Running a 1959 Shasta camper full of lights, camera, and personality isn’t always predictable, but that’s part of the magic. We bring different strengths to the table, support one another behind the scenes, and show up to every event with the same goal: creating joy, connection, and unforgettable memories. At its core, The Wandering Photo Camper is a celebration—not just of moments captured, but of friendship, trust, and taking the scenic route together.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Pulling a 1959 camper across town comes with its own set of adventures. Odette doesn’t believe in rushing—she was built in ’59, and that’s exactly how fast she’s willing to go. Highways make her nervous, steep hills require encouragement, and I’ve learned to schedule extra time and embrace the journey. It’s part of her charm, really. She reminds me that good things are worth waiting for… especially when they show up looking this good.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The Wandering Photo Camper is a traveling photo booth built into a 1959 Shasta camper that we lovingly named Odette. At its heart, what we do is help people slow down, step inside something special, and capture moments that might otherwise slip by. We specialize in adding that missing flair to events—whether it’s a wedding, celebration, or community gathering—and in commemorating relationships, both new and old.
What we’re known for is the experience as much as the photos themselves. Every event includes bespoke print designs tailored to the client’s vibe, along with a friendly attendant who helps draw guests in and makes sure everyone feels comfortable and included. Odette isn’t just a photo booth; she’s a conversation starter, a gathering place, and often the unexpected highlight of the night.
What I’m most proud of is how much joy she brings. Watching guests of all ages light up, reconnect, and walk away with a tangible memory never gets old. What sets The Wandering Photo Camper apart is that blend of nostalgia, personality, and thoughtful detail—no two events look the same, because no two stories are the same.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The event and experiential marketing industry continues to grow, especially as people place more value on meaningful, in-person experiences after years of digital overload. While photos are everywhere, experiences that feel personal, tactile, and memorable are in high demand.
I see strong prospects for businesses like The Wandering Photo Camper that offer something distinctive and story-driven. Clients are looking for unique, Instagram-worthy moments that also translate into lasting keepsakes. Nostalgia, customization, and human connection are becoming more important, and that’s where we thrive. As events continue to evolve, there’s a clear shift toward interactive elements that feel less transactional and more heartfelt—something I believe will only continue to grow.
