Rising Stars: Meet Daeshon Street of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daeshon Street

Hi Daeshon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey with photography started back in January of 2021. One night I had a dream of owning a camera and just taking photos of family and creating memories. The dream was so powerful that I woke up and bought my first DSLR the next morning. From there my entire YouTube suggestions were based on street photography and camera tips/tricks. I started taking photos of friends and family every chance I got, sometimes against their will but I was so infatuated with the art form that it didn’t matter. Eventually it progressed to people taking a liking to my work and trusting me enough with projects and events they were having and my love for photography continued to blossom. I am a big believer in my faith, and I can see how God has placed me in rooms that I never imagined I’d be and provided opportunities for me to grow into what ShotByStreet has become today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I grew up understanding that all journey’s will have their own peaks and valleys but as long as you keep going, eventually you’ll reach the destination. The road to where I am currently has not always been easy, but I will say it has been rewarding. Entrepreneurship is hard, you’ll have months where photoshoots are coming in back-to-back and then months when you’re looking for work. Specifically in an over-saturated industry such as photography/videography it was hard for me to not compare my work and gift to other creative artists. I had to learn comparison is the thief of joy and to look at others for inspiration and not competition. It’s enough money out here for everybody to eat and we all have differences that make us unique. I am blessed to have a great support system that helps along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer specializing in lifestyle, sports, and creative work such as birthdays/graduation/maternity. I also do event photography upon request. I like to think of myself as a photographer that creates timeless art that my clients will be able to look back on 20-30 years down the road and still be able to feel the emotion of the times. I am only about 4 years into the industry, so I am still actively seeking ways to set my brand apart from others.

How do you think about happiness?
The thing that makes me happy the most with what I do is bringing my clients vision to life and doing it in excellence. When someone inquires with me, from that moment my attention goes to the execution. I’ve noticed that from the client’s perspective photoshoots can be stressful, whether that is being camera-shy or not being in control of the entire process, so my job is to earn their trust and make it as easy as possible. Doing these things and receiving positive feedback once they get the photos back is fulfilling and makes it all worth it.
