Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique “High Defynition” Robinson.
Hi Dominique “High Defynition”, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for music since I was a child. While in middle and high school I joined the Concert Band, Marching Band, and Woodwind Ensemble. During my time at Hermitage High and Henrico High School, in Richmond, Virginia, I started a rap group with one of my best friends until I left to join the Army National Guard. After joining the Army National Guard, I moved to Atlanta to pursue my career in the entertainment industry. While living in Atlanta, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University and Associates in Small Group Management from Purdue University Global. After obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree I formed my company, Defynition of Success Entertainment (D.O.S Ent.). At D.O.S Ent., I focus on consulting, music distribution, artist management and development, music and beat placements, finding royalties for artist and producers, and requesting RIAA certified plaques for writers, artists, producers, DJs, and Indie Labels that have earned Gold or Platinum plaques. In January 2021, I had the pleasure of working with Baby Sweet, CEO of Stack’Em Entertainment, by helping him find missing royalties for the single ’Say Yes’ by Lil Corey, as well as helping him to get a plaque for the single, which has over 53 million streams. I also was able to help Baby Sweet get his RIAA certified gold plaque for the D4L album, ‘Down For Life’. Less than a month later, I was able to help a good friend of mine, Kochease, find missing royalties from two records he produced, ‘I Know You See It’ and ‘Patron’ by Yung Joc. I was also able to help him get his Billboard Plaque for ‘I Know You See It’, which peaked at #3. As of today, I am currently the President and Music Executive of Stack’Em Entertainment. At Stack’Em Entertainment we have worked with artist George Clinton, D4L, Gucci Mane, Goodie Mob, and many more.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to get here has been fairly smooth. I would say my biggest challenge thus far has been trying to juggle personal life while also focusing on my business. I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who have guided and helped me along the way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would say what sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I am self-motivated, driven, consistent, and well-organized. I am also very good at networking with others. I study those around me, who may have more experience than I have, so that I am always constantly learning. This helps me to be more well-rounded when I go to meet different professionals and creatives in the business. I am most proud of running a successful business and helping writers, artists, producers, DJs, and Indie Labels, get what they deserve and is rightfully theirs!
What makes you happy?
First, my family makes me happy. It also makes me happy to help those that are in need of guidance or advice that can help them become successful in the entertainment industry. It is very fulfilling to know that your actions can make a positive impact on someone’s life.
