Rising Stars: Meet Franky Treau of San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Franky Treau.

Hi Franky , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story started in Nashville, Tennessee, where I fell in love with music at just eight years old. I was the kid constantly writing raps, studying my favorite artists, and dreaming about one day making records that would connect with people around the world. Artists like LL Cool J, the Hot Boys, Three 6 Mafia, and OutKast helped shape my sound early on, but I’ve always wanted to create something that feels uniquely mine.

One of the biggest turning points in my life came in 2012 after my mom passed away. In the middle of that loss, I made the decision to move to San Diego for a fresh start. What began as a new chapter personally also became the moment my music career really started gaining momentum. Being in a new city pushed me to take my craft more seriously, invest in myself as an artist, and honestly I just wanted to do it for my mom.

Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to work on major creative opportunities such as MTV, Adidas, and more recently Seaworld San Diego with Canelo Alvarez and his team for boxing. More importantly, those experiences have reinforced my belief that I was meant to be here. I want my catalog to reflect who I am, where I’ve been, and the people and experiences that shaped me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like a lot of independent artists, I’ve faced my share of setbacks, both personally and professionally. Losing my mom was one of the hardest moments of my life. After she passed, I moved to San Diego in search of a fresh start, but I also became disconnected from my dad during that time.

Toward the end of 2015, my dad and I were able to reconnect and begin rebuilding our relationship. Unfortunately, just a few months later, he passed away in early 2016. Experiencing the loss of both of my parents within such a short period changed me forever. It forced me to mature, lean on my faith, and find purpose through the pain instead of letting it define me. But boy was it dark for me.

At the same time, becoming a father myself gave me a completely different perspective on life. My kids became my biggest motivation. They remind me every day why I have to keep going, why I can’t quit, and why I’m committed to building something that lasts beyond the music. They inspire me to lead by example and show them what perseverance, resilience, and chasing your dreams really look like.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At my core, I’m a recording artist and songwriter, but I like to think of myself as a storyteller first. I create music that blends hip-hop and R&B with real-life experiences, whether that’s love, ambition, perseverance, or simply celebrating life. I never want people to walk away feeling like they just heard another song—I want them to feel like they experienced a moment. I want to be the soundtrack to someone’s life.

As an independent artist, I’ve learned to build much more than music. I’ve become a marketer, creative director, entrepreneur, and business owner. I also own a publishing company, host a podcast, and stay hands-on with every part of my career, from developing concepts and visuals with my to planning releases and connecting with my audience. That level of involvement allows me to make sure everything representing Franky Treau is authentic and intentional.

One thing I’m especially proud of is my consistency. I’ve continued to invest in myself and my vision through every high and low, and that commitment has opened doors to opportunities I once only dreamed about. Every project I release reflects growth—not just as an artist, but as a man, a father, and an entrepreneur.

What sets me apart is my versatility. I don’t believe in staying inside one box. I can make records that make people want to celebrate, songs that capture love and vulnerability, motivational anthems, or music that simply helps someone get through a difficult day. No matter the style, my goal is always the same: create something genuine that people can connect with long after the song ends.

More than anything, I want my legacy to be bigger than streams and numbers. I want people to remember that Franky Treau built something authentic, stayed true to himself, and inspired others to keep chasing their dreams regardless of the obstacles they faced. If my music helps someone feel seen, motivated, or hopeful, then I’ve accomplished exactly what I set out to do.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I just want to encourage people to keep believing in whatever dream has been placed on their heart. Everyone sees the highlights, but they don’t always see the years of work, sacrifice, setbacks, and faith it takes to keep moving forward. If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that your story isn’t defined by the obstacles you face—it’s defined by how you respond to them.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s supported me from the beginning and to those who are just now discovering my music. Every stream, every show, every message, and every opportunity means more than people probably realize. None of it is taken for granted.

This is an exciting season for me creatively. I’m continuing to release new music, visuals that have since garnered many views and placement on television, expand my brand, and take on opportunities that challenge me as both an artist and an entrepreneur. I truly feel like I’m only scratching the surface of what’s possible.

For anyone reading this who’s unfamiliar with my music, I’d love for you to take the journey with me. I hope when you listen, you don’t just hear the songs—you hear the story behind them. And if there’s one thing I want people to remember about me, it’s that I never stopped believing, no matter what life put in front of me.
