Rising Stars: Meet Fro$t

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fro$t.

Hi Fro$t, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been writing since I was a little girl. I always had a vivid imagination. My mom was really into movies so I wrote my own movie when I was nine and then I said to myself I wanted a soundtrack for my movie which is why I started writing music and the rest is history.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a female rapper from Mobile AL has not been easy at all! I have been vastly underestimated – stereotyped and pigeonholed. I was born in the south but moved a lot between FL and NY and then after high school, I moved to GA where I was around a lot of CA homies, so needless to say my style is very versatile due to many different influential environments. That proved to be a gift and a curse because while I believe it enhanced my skill, it confused a lot of the execs that I tried working with because they couldn’t categorize me.

Also, not having a strong support system (my mom passed when I was 14 and dad wasn’t around) caused a lot of my struggles because I was forced to make decisions on my own at a young age that I wasn’t equipped to make and ultimately made bad choices that landed me in bad deals postponing my dreams from becoming reality.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a rapper/singer/songwriter and I love every bit of it! I am a LEO, so creating is something I was born to do! I can write to any style of music – pop, rock, rap, country, rnb – anything! But I am known for my bars in hip hop. I think I am set apart from others in my field because of my versatility. I’m like a pot of Gumbo! I can do it all – Missy/Lauryn/Lil Kim vibes all wrapped in one.
