Rising Stars: Meet Latif Yahya of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latif Yahya.

Hi Latif, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started with Wisdom when I was 16 years old. As a student of brands like stussy, bape, kenzo, cdg and brands alike. I wanted my own design house where people of like mind and interest could see themselves in. I got this far by being fearless, confident and delusional.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life will throw its challenges at you, which are lessons for what you said you wanted to be. Those hard times give purpose and life to the high times. Life is a game not a war. How you choose to reflect on obstacles will show you who you are.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think of myself as a cartoonist playing fashion designer. An artist, designer and business man. Somewhere between those three you find me. I’m really good at storytelling, finding ways to brand and market something in a practical way— whimsical way. I’m known for designing eyewear and most proud of how I continue to reintroduce Wisdom to my audience and the world. Collaborating with Nike, being carried by Nordstrom and Launching an eyewear design class at SCAD.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Atlanta for its people, food and opportunity. Atlanta raised me I think it’s considered a small city while having everything to do. Atlantas special because of her energy, I love how it’s compared to big cities while only existing for half the time larger cities have. I least like the fact that Atlanta has no beaches.
