Rising Stars: Meet McKenzie Nugent of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to McKenzie Nugent.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
COVID acted as the catalyst that allowed me to turn photography into my full-time career. From the beginning, I knew building a sustainable business would take time. So instead of chasing quick growth, I focused on creating a thoughtful experience for every individual who trusted me with capturing their big moments.

Looking back, I think consistency and caring about the people I work with have made all the difference. It is never lost on me how lucky I am to call this my job. My love for photography, combined with the privilege of working for myself, is something I’m grateful for every single day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not smooth but always worth it. There have been long days, double header wedding weekends, non-stop editing, & a “no days off” feeling. I have no complaints though, it is a joy to pour so much into something I care so much about.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My hope is to create photographs that feel rare, not because they’re styled to perfection, but because they’re unique to the people in them. I believe personality is the truest heirloom we can preserve, so I approach every wedding with the intention of documenting people honestly while creating imagery that feels both deeply personal and poetic in the way it’s seen.
