Rising Stars: Meet Pascale Pierrot of Pascales Pretty Pieces

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pascale Pierrot.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always loved arts and crafts, and I’ve actually had locs for as long as I can remember. Growing up, locs weren’t really deemed as feminine or celebrated the way they should have been, and that definitely stayed with me.

As I got older, life got incredibly busy. Between balancing school and work, I desperately needed a creative outlet to clear my head, so I got back into making things. I started out creating jewelry, specifically loc jewelry, as a way to embrace and elevate natural hair. But pretty quickly, I realized I wanted to make something that everyone could enjoy, no matter how they wore their hair.

That’s when I decided to branch out into claw clips. I wanted to create these large, beautiful flower clips and vibrant, fruit-themed pieces that double as wearable art but are still strong enough to actually hold thick, textured hair.

Honestly, social media was the ultimate catalyst for all of this. Sharing my creative process on TikTok and Instagram connected me with an incredible community that just kept growing. Today, we’re at over 50,000 followers, which is still wild to me, and that platform is really what allowed me to turn this passion into a full-scale business. Now, I focus on running things intentionally, keeping our practices sustainable and our packaging plastic-free. Looking back at where this all started, seeing people out in the world wearing my pieces makes every bit of the hustle worth it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth journey. Like anyone trying to build something from the ground up, I’ve had to navigate my fair share of hurdles, both professionally and personally. For a long time, I was completely overwhelmed—juggling a demanding 9-to-5, dealing with personal struggles in my own life, and trying to keep up with school. I was completely overworked and, honestly, just unhappy.

But October 2024 was a massive turning point for me. I finally sat down with myself and realized just how much my business meant to me. I made a firm decision that I didn’t want to be unhappy anymore, and that I was the only one in charge of my own destiny.

That was the moment I made a vow to start pouring just as much love, time, and energy into my business as I was putting into my education. Making that mental shift and actively choosing to invest in myself changed everything, and it helped me grow tremendously both as a person and as a business owner.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the end of the day, I make hair accessories that are basically wearable art. I specialize in pieces that are unique but also actually functional, especially for people with thick hair and locs who usually struggle to find clips that work for them.

My absolute best-seller is my Tiger Lily jumbo claw clip. It’s kind of what I’m known for because it can comfortably hold the thickest locs without breaking or slipping. Alongside the flowers, I specialize in fruit and food-themed clips, which is really what sets me apart from everyone else.

I love getting super creative with it—I’ve made watermelon, peppermint, and kiwi clips, which were huge best-sellers. I’ve even made a fried chicken claw clip! I think just being that outside-the-box and playful with my designs is what catches people’s attention and draws them to my website. There are a million basic hair clips out there, so when people see something as wild as a piece of fried chicken or a hyper-realistic kiwi for their hair, they love it.

I’m just really proud that I’ve been able to take my love for making things, have fun with it, and create something that makes people excited to style their hair.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Honestly, I’m not entirely sure what the next five to ten years hold for my business, and I’m completely okay with that. Right now, I absolutely love what I do with my claw clips, but I also see my brand naturally evolving as I grow as a person.

Lately, I’ve been really wanting to share more of who I am outside of just hair accessories. I live a very “crunchy,” zero-waste, sustainable lifestyle, and keeping my ecological footprint as small as possible is incredibly important to me. I’m also really passionate about vegetarian cooking.

Looking ahead, I would love to branch out and combine all of these different pieces of my life. I’m really interested in creating resources for people who want to transition away from eating meat—things like vegetarian meal plans and recipe e-books. If I can successfully juggle all three of those worlds—the creative hair accessories, the eco-friendly lifestyle content, and helping people explore plant-based eating—I would be incredibly proud. To me, the future isn’t about sticking to just one lane; it’s about building an authentic lifestyle community where all of my passions can live together.
