Rising Stars: Meet Profit Child

Today we’d like to introduce you to Profit Child.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It started when I was about nine, youngest out the hood who always wanted to run with the older dudes, but it was times they won’t let me slide with them, so I got a couple of young jits like me and start doing the same thing they were trying to. It came to the point where I was getting known for the shit I was doing early, so my Patna Cheuk who already was rapping, I use to hang with him a lot he was older when shawty buss freestyles I’ll just jump in just cause till one day my Patna Manman showed me this app autotune, I use to the spot just make shit on it & let my grandma listen to it gang she lol play every last one on the speaker and say how I was next up, bonnie my “grandma” who recently passed on April 1 .2020 always knew I’ll end up like this she’s the only reason I kept going…

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It haven’t been a smooth road, from being locked up, from gunshots going off while you trying to record, the environment I was living in had to watch my back, just a normal life for a kid from the hood.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m very creative, I think of sounds, voices, etc. to make the song more better than what it already was, I learned to know how to record myself so when I want a hit for sure, I just record myself cause I know exactly what I’m looking for. A lot make me different, because of what I was rapping about that young I started getting eyes turned on me just cause them thinking how I know about all this stuff, I was known for my work I was putting in and trying to make profit out of any and every situation I can, proud of myself that I made it this far without no deal, never ask for promotion or cared about people supporting, everything I rap about I try keeps it as real as possible without drawing attention, relate to the ones that need to hear we they doing is straight long as you getting money, and my flow is some different.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Me and Dj going strip 2 strip looking for shit to get into.
