Rising Stars: Meet Sophonie Blanc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophonie Blanc.

Hi Sophonie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello beautiful people! My name is Sophonie Blanc ( My First name is Pronounced symphony but with S.O. ) I am also known as SoBlanc. I was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti but raised and currently residing in Boston, MA.  I am a singer/songwriter and also have a career in digital marketing. I wanted to introduce myself by sharing a short story about myself.

Music is my first love. As a small child, I was always surrounded by music. My entire family sings, plays an instrument, or both. My dad is a singer and a musician and he saw the gift that I was given and he made sure he watered that seed. By the age of 6, I was arranging harmonies and writing songs. At the age of 3, my dad who is also a minister; stood me on a chair in front of 500 people and put a mic in my hand to sing. I fell in love with music that Sunday afternoon. I have always loved music but fell in love with it more that day. Something about holding that mic, the t.v. cameras, being in front of a crowd and entertaining them. It just felt good and felt right! By the age of 13, I was directing the children’s choir and by the age of 16, I was a host for a Christian Haitian radio station and did t.v. appearances to promote events and concerts for my dad’s church that I organized and planned with the help of the youth leaders. I always packed the house.

I had a love for all music growing up and knew I wanted to share that gift outside of the church as well. It was a challenge at first because my dad is a minister. I was told that gospel music is where I needed to be and from the church’s perspective, that’s the only place to be. But, my parents believed in my purpose and pushed me to continue to do what made me happy. Although they knew they would receive some backlash, my parents still supported me in my decisions with music and the career path I wanted to go into combining music and marketing. They spoke success into my life and prayed over me, always. I make sure to keep the most high first in everything that I do! Prayer behind my grind. My parents also made sure that I was involved in every program available to grow my gift as a singer and songwriter. I started off writing gospel music for the children’s choir, leading the youth Dept as the youth president, and creating all the marketing content for the church. When I entered high school, I met other like-minded music lovers and gained amazing mentors. That’s when I fell in love with RNB music. I started to explore different genres of music and realized all the good music from greats like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, the Isley Brothers, temptation, New Edition, and many more I was missing out on. I started singing at every assembly and school event created and directed the school choir and started a girl’s group called NAJ. I also took piano and classical voice training at New England Conservatory of Music prep school in Boston and private cello lessons. I was given a lot of amazing opportunities. Singing for presidents like Jean B. Aristide (Haiti), Bill Clinton (U.S.A.), Former Mayor Menino of Boston, MA, The U.S. Coast Guards, many local concerts and events, a duet with Wyclef Jean at strand theater in Boston, ma, and many more great opportunities. I was also approached by a well-known record label but being a minor it was all up to my parents to sign the contract. My parents felt at the time that it wasn’t the right time for that kind of responsibility.  Moving forward, I have accomplished so many great things in the last few years. Singing the national anthem for Boston Redsox Vs. NY Yankees baseball game at Fenway, releasing a song called LUV U, and given sync opportunities for commercials and movies, as well as songwriting opportunities for industry professionals.

The pandemic was rough for many but I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to build relationships and not only write for some industry professionals but also had my own song hosted and supported by Grammy artist Ne-Yo, features with Brian Angel and so many more amazing opportunities. In the midst of all of this excitement, I took a digital marketing course at General Assembly Boston and also at Yale University school of management to enhance my natural marketing skills. Today I offer digital marketing services to bring brand awareness, SEO, and creative content and also songwriting, vocal arrangement, vocal training, vocal production, and singing services. So far, my business is growing and Euphony Co is helping people in all walks of life. No matter if you’re just starting or have been in the game for a little while.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always bumps in the road when you are building success. But it’s what you do and how you handle those bumps that make or break you. In the beginning, my challenge was getting funding. In order to start a business, you need to invest in your business. I have the skill needed to deliver but didn’t always have the money to get the supplies and tools to get the business up and running. It took working many hours at my job, taking singing gigs, and starting off with smaller marketing requests before I was able to maintain. So I would say, making sure I had enough money to support the overhead of my business was my biggest challenge in the beginning.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart from others is my passion, ambition, competitive spirit, dedication, organization, determination, and discipline. I am a perfectionist and it will show in my work. I always want to deliver the best service. I keep up with all that I do by continuing my education and learning from others while I teach and provide amazing service in my field. To be a great leader, you need to be a great student. So I am never behind and always 2 steps ahead. When it comes to marketing and music I am able to share and create the vision of my client’s story through words/music or creative content. I am focused on building my brand and creating a platform where creatives can find support for all of their marketing needs. AND, I will get a grammy and many other amazing awards one day for my music. Let’s throw that in the atmosphere!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
The pandemic had its struggles and I almost gave up on my passion. I just couldn’t do it. That little voice to build generational wealth for my family was louder than my doubts. I got up and made things happen and worked even harder while learning from any mistakes I made in the process. I’m glad that I woke up with that spirit of wanting to win. So call it luck or faith. I experienced both and even with the struggles in the process of it all, I wouldn’t change anything.
