Rising Stars: Meet Stephanie Bassette of National

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Bassette.

Stephanie , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born 1971 in Chester, Pennsylvania to James T. Bassette from Lawrenceville Virginia and Queen Esther now known as Margaret G. Bassette from Cheraw, South Carolina. Margaret and James moved to New Castle, Delaware with myself and Monique (my sister) where we live in Jefferson Farms for over plus years.

A Journey of Faith, Resilience, Leadership, and Love

My name is Stephanie Nicholle Bassette, and my story is one of foundation, faith, resilience, and becoming. I was raised in a home where love was expressed through action, discipline was a form of protection, and faith was the center of everything. My parents taught me early how to carry myself, how to work with integrity, and how to show up for others. Those lessons became the bedrock of who I am today.

From childhood, I was the responsible one the helper, the organizer, the one people trusted. Leadership found me long before I ever sought it. I grew up surrounded by strong family values, community, and the understanding that your name and your character matter. Those early years shaped my compassion, my work ethic, and my ability to connect with people on a deeper level.

As I stepped into adulthood, life introduced me to its challenges. I experienced heartbreak, disappointment, and seasons that forced me to rebuild myself from the inside out. But every challenge strengthened my faith. I went from knowing God because I was taught about Him to knowing God because I needed Him. My faith became my anchor, my compass, and my source of strength.

Motherhood transformed me.
My daughter, Huntyr Laws became my greatest teacher the reason I learned to push harder, love deeper, and grow wiser. She inspired me to become the kind of woman she could look up to: strong but soft, confident but humble, loving but boundaried. Motherhood taught me how to nurture without losing myself and how to lead by example.

My calling into chaplaincy was not something I pursued it was something that revealed itself. People naturally came to me for comfort, guidance, and prayer. I became the safe place, the listener, the intercessor. Stepping into chaplain work gave language to what I had been doing my entire life: serving, supporting, and standing with people through their hardest moments. Ministry refined me, deepened my compassion, and strengthened my purpose.

My leadership journey grew alongside my spiritual one. Whether in my community, in my chapter, or in creative spaces, I became known for my consistency, my integrity, and my ability to bring structure, calm, and clarity wherever I go. I lead with empathy, accountability, and intention not for recognition, but for impact.

But one of the most defining chapters of my life was walking through divorce.
It was painful, humbling, and transformative. Divorce taught me what love is not. It taught me the importance of peace, self-worth, and emotional safety. It forced me to rediscover myself — my voice, my needs, my boundaries, and my identity as a woman.

And then, when I wasn’t searching…
when I was simply healing, growing, and becoming…

I met Kevin Beecher — the love of my life.

Meeting Kevin felt like God’s reminder that He restores.
Kevin loves me with intention, consistency, and respect. He sees me the healed me, the soft me, the strong me. With him, love is peaceful, mature, and grounding. He is my friend, my partner, my joy, and my safe place. Our connection is rooted in honesty, alignment, and genuine affection. Loving him didn’t erase my past — it redeemed it.

Today, I stand as a woman shaped by every season I’ve lived through.
A woman who has survived, healed, evolved, and risen.
A woman who leads with compassion, serves with purpose, and loves with depth.
A woman who honors her family’s legacy while building her own.

My story is not about perfection it is about purpose.
It is about faith that carried me, resilience that shaped me, motherhood that grew me, ministry that grounded me, and love that found me.

This is who I am:
A woman of strength.
A woman of service.
A woman of intention.
A woman of legacy.

And my story is still being written.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My life has definitely not been smooth.

I experienced a stroke in 2024. I was divorced, Lost my home. I am not where I want to be financially and it is very frustrating because I desire to finish my dissertation, but I am unable to as I cannot afford to pay for a mentor or even tuition along with fees in order to finish these final steps to get my doctorates degree.

I feel like there is more for me but finding what that more is has very difficult.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
PROFESSIONAL LIFE & CAREER — THE WOMAN BEHIND THE WORK

Excellence, Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, and Purpose in Every Role

My professional journey is a reflection of who I am at my core: a woman of integrity, discipline, compassion, and unwavering commitment. I have built my career the same way I have built my life with intention, consistency, and a standard of excellence that does not bend.

I am the employee who becomes the backbone of a team.
The leader who brings clarity to confusion.
The professional who elevates every environment she enters.

My career has never been about chasing titles. It has been about impact — the kind of impact that is felt in the culture of a workplace, the morale of a team, and the quality of the work produced.

ROOTED IN WORK ETHIC & RESPONSIBILITY

From the very beginning of my working life, I carried the values my parents instilled in me:
Show up. Work hard. Be dependable. Do it right the first time.

Those values shaped my reputation early on. I became known as the person who could be trusted with sensitive information, complex tasks, and high‑pressure responsibilities. I didn’t just complete assignments — I improved systems, strengthened processes, and brought order to environments that needed structure.

I have always been the employee who:

– Notices what others overlook
– Anticipates needs before they are spoken
– Solves problems before they become issues
– Maintains professionalism even when others lose composure
– Brings calm, clarity, and stability to fast‑moving situations

These qualities made me a natural fit for administrative, operational, and leadership‑support roles. I understand how to manage details, people, and priorities with precision.

THE POWER OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

One of my greatest professional strengths is my emotional intelligence.
I know how to read a room, how to communicate with diplomacy, and how to support people through challenges without losing my boundaries.

This is not something that can be taught it is something that is lived.

My chaplaincy work sharpened these skills even further. It taught me how to:

– Listen deeply
– Communicate clearly
– Maintain confidentiality
– Support others without absorbing their stress
– Lead with compassion while still holding standards
– Navigate sensitive conversations with grace

These qualities make me not just a strong employee, but a trusted one the kind of professional people feel safe coming to, whether they need clarity, direction, or support.

LEADERSHIP THROUGH SERVICE & EXCELLENCE

I lead naturally not through force, but through presence.
People follow me because they trust me, not because I demand it.

In every workplace, I have become the person who:

– Sets the tone
– Raises the standard
– Keeps the team grounded
– Bridges communication gaps
– Supports leadership with discretion and reliability
– Creates structure where there is none
– Brings solutions instead of excuses

I understand how to support executives, manage operations, coordinate schedules, and maintain order in environments that require precision. I am equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

My leadership style is rooted in:

– Accountability
– Professionalism
– Empathy
– Clear communication
– High standards
– Consistency

I don’t just lead tasks,I lead people.

ADAPTABILITY & GROWTH

One of the hallmarks of my career is my ability to adapt.
I thrive in environments that require flexibility, quick thinking, and the ability to learn new systems or processes rapidly.

Whether transitioning into new roles, adjusting to new leadership, or navigating organizational changes, I remain steady, focused, and solution‑oriented.

I am the employee who:

– Learns quickly
– Adjusts smoothly
– Stays calm under pressure
– Maintains professionalism in uncertainty
– Finds solutions instead of dwelling on problems

This adaptability has allowed me to excel in diverse roles and industries.

THE PROFESSIONAL PRESENCE THAT SETS ME APART

I carry myself with a presence that is both warm and authoritative.
I know how to command respect without raising my voice.
I know how to set boundaries without being harsh.
I know how to lead without overshadowing others.

My presence is defined by:

– Grace
– Confidence
– Maturity
– Emotional steadiness
– Strong interpersonal skills
– A calm, grounding energy

I am the person who brings stability to a team, clarity to a project, and excellence to every assignment.

A CAREER BUILT ON PURPOSE

My professional life is not separate from my personal values — it is an extension of them.
I work with intention.
I serve with integrity.
I lead with compassion.
I show up with excellence.

I am proud of the career I’ve built because it reflects the woman I’ve become:

– Strong
– Reliable
– Skilled
– Compassionate
– Professional
– Purpose‑driven

I am not just an employee — I am an asset.
I am not just a worker — I am a builder.
I am not just present — I am impactful.

My career is a testament to resilience, growth, and the power of showing up with consistency and purpose.

And as I continue to evolve, I bring with me the same commitment:
to serve with excellence, to lead with integrity, and to represent myself — and any organization I join — with honor.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see myself as a person who has their own business. My business will be in the Chaplain industry. I say this because everything always comes back to Chaplaincy.
