Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Camille Pierce.
Hi Sylvia Camille, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started right here in Atlanta, Georgia, where I discovered my love for singing at a young age when the Choir Director, Mrs. Eloise Dukes asked, me to sing a solo at my home church, Flipper Tempe A.M.E. In high school (Benjamin E. Mays ) theater, participating in productions like Purlie and West Side Story, and that’s where my acting spark came —literally and creatively, thanks to the late Mr. Tommy Ross. After High School graduation, I wanted to go straight to Hollywood but my mother encouraged me to attend Morris Brown College to have a back up plan. I wanted to be the next Whitney Houston and Diane Carroll.
While I always had a passion for the arts, I also dedicated 30 years to education with Atlanta Public Schools as a teacher, media specialist and School Business Manager. During that time, I continued to nurture my gifts in music, acting, and community engagement, performing in competitions, stage productions, and gospel events. Those experiences helped shape my confidence and deepened my purpose.
Over the years, I’ve been blessed to receive recognition as a vocalist and performer, but more importantly, I realized my calling was bigger than the stage—it was about inspiring others. That realization led me to create Sunday Nights w/ Sylvia Camille during COVID. I interviewed over 73 artists, actors, authors and public figures. Those episodes can be viewed on my YouTube channel. Fast forward to 2024, Live with Sylvia Camille TALK SHOW was birthed, a live audience taping experience where I can combine storytelling, live entertainment, and meaningful conversations to uplift and empower people to pursue their dreams. This spring Season 1 of Live with Sylvia Camille will drop.
Today, I’m walking fully in that purpose—using my voice, my story, and my platform to inspire others to believe in themselves, dream big, and truly live out their dreams.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been moments of joy and success, but also seasons that stretched me in ways I didn’t expect.
For many years, I was balancing my passion with responsibility. I gave 30 years to education, and while I’m incredibly proud of that, there were times when my dreams had to wait. I would pour into others all day, then go home and try to find the energy to pour into myself. That wasn’t always easy.
I’ve also had moments where I questioned myself—wondering if it was “too late,” wondering if I had missed my window, or if the opportunities I hoped for would ever come. Rejection, being overlooked, and not always being seen the way I knew I could show up—it can take a toll on you if you let it.
But the most personal struggle was learning to truly believe in myself at a deeper level. Not just having talent, but trusting that my voice matters. That took time, faith, and a lot of inner work.
There were times I had to step out on faith when things didn’t feel secure. Times I had to push past fear, doubt, and comfort. But every challenge taught me something—how to be stronger, how to be patient, and how to keep going even when it wasn’t easy.
Now, when I sit in the seat as the host of Live with Sylvia Camille, I carry all of that with me. It’s not just a show—it’s a reflection of everything I’ve walked through. And that’s why it means so much to me to encourage others, because I know what it feels like to hold onto a dream and fight to see it come to life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At my core, I’m a storyteller, a performer, and now a host who creates space for inspiration and real conversation. I specialize in using my voice—whether through singing, acting, or speaking—to connect with people in a meaningful way. Today, that’s fully expressed through my talk show, Live with Sylvia Camille, where I bring together powerful stories, engaging interviews, and uplifting moments that encourage people to reflect, grow, and dream bigger.
People often know me as “The Songbird,” because music has always been a part of who I am. But beyond that, I believe I’m known for my authenticity and my heart. Whether I’m on stage, on set, or in conversation, I lead with sincerity. I don’t just perform—I connect.
What I’m most proud of is having the courage to step into this season of my life and fully walk in my purpose. After dedicating 30 years to education, creating Live with Sylvia Camille wasn’t just a career move—it was a leap of faith. It represents my voice, my vision, and my commitment to inspiring others. Seeing it come to life, and watching how it impacts people, means everything to me.
What sets me apart is that my journey is layered. I’m not just coming from one lane—I bring life experience, wisdom, faith, and resilience into everything I do. I understand people because I’ve poured into them for decades, and now I get to create a platform that pours back into others. There’s a genuine passion behind my work, and I think people feel that.
At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to inspire people to believe in themselves, pursue their purpose, and truly live their dreams. And I don’t just say it—I live it.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would just say this—don’t give up on your dream, no matter what it looks like or how long it takes. I’m living proof that purpose doesn’t expire. Sometimes life takes you on a different path first, but that doesn’t mean your passion is lost—it’s being prepared.
I also want people to understand that it’s okay to start again, to reinvent yourself, and to step into something new with confidence. You don’t have to have everything figured out—you just have to be willing to take the first step.
And finally, I want readers to know that whatever you’ve been through doesn’t disqualify you—it actually adds to your story. Every experience, every challenge, every lesson has value. Use it. Grow from it. Let it push you forward.
That’s really the heart behind everything I do. If I can inspire even one person to believe a little more, to dream a little bigger, and to take action toward the life they truly want—then I’m walking in my purpose.
Because at the end of the day… don’t forget to do what? Live your dream and close the dash from your birth til death.
