Rising Stars: Meet Terrell Maurice Carr of Philadelphia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrell Maurice Carr.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I originate from Jacksonville, Florida. I moved around a lot as a child. Being the oldest of 5 forced me to grow up fast yet I never lost my childlike wonder about the world. I knew at a young age that I was destined for greatness. That determination led me take chances. I started my makeup artistry serendipitously in 2007. Working in Dillards department store as a fragrance vendor. I was called to pick up my gratis (which is free gifts from the company)not aware that day would change my life. Leaving the beach headed to the store that day. I was asked to by my manager at the time to do makeup on this client…unsure as to why I obliged…little to my knowledge I would be offered a position with Chanel cosmetics. After staying with the company for two years , I then worked for Christian Dior, M.A.C, and Lancôme. In 2010 I left Florida and moved to Charlotte North ,Carolina. Working for M.A.C at the time and I was asked to help on set of a Nicki Gilbert production . That production was “The Soul Kitten Cabaret.” Looking only to assist my lover at the time on set I was frantically searching for the dressing room. I was met by Nicki in the hallway. She stopped and asked “Who did your makeup?” No replied . “I did.” Not knowing moments later that I would be guided to a dressing room to do Monifah, Faith Evans, Crystal (Ronnie from Playas Club) and FANTASIA! Surprised yet ready I took the challenge only to be requested to go on tour with Fantasia on her Back to Me Tour. After the tour I settled back to Florida only to moved to ATL then to Philly. Working at M.A.C I was approached by Tweet for a quick makeup demo. She requested my services the next day and within a week I was on tour with her doing her makeup and assisting. After the tour I embraced my skincare line HEALIXER full time. Creating assorted products from fragrances to home goods. I’m currently in Philadelphia expanding my brand and artistry through abstract paintings, apparel, makeup artistry and networking. I’m grateful to continue my walk of entrepreneurial greatness .

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been extremely turbulent in the most beautiful ways. I discovered many of my talents through critical thinking and moving with Faith. To live out a dream that only you can see can be challenging to the spirit. With no financial assistance….I created HYPER HUMAN LLC in the peak off the pandemic. A lot of loved ones who helped me today have transitioned. My continuous forward movement is my way of honoring there contributions to my dream and career.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a multifaceted artist. I am aware of my talents and the importance of sharing my gifts with people. I professionally paint and sell my art. Professionally service clients as a makeup artist, I sing and creatively directed projects for artists such as Tweet, and Tokiko of ATL. I’m a proud skincare line owner of HEALIXER. I created small batch hand made skincare and fragrances, currently expanding to private labeling. My goal is to truly live out my dreams and connect with amazing souls along the way

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
