Rising Stars: Meet Tyran Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyran Johnson.

Hi Tyran, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey, I’m a 21 year old from Scottdale, GA, that’s on the Eastside of Atlanta, not East Atlanta, though, but growing up, I played basketball and when I graduated from high school, I tried to start a clothing brand. But I did not know what I was doing; I’m not going to act like it was super easy. I used to watch hours on hours of different ways to print on apparel; I was trying to see with method would be good for beginners. I tried messaging small brands around Atlanta asking how they started but I guess I had to figure it out myself know-one responded.

So October 2020, I dropped my 1st shirt. I ordered ten shirts and they sold quickly but my family bought most of them, so I was happy but at the same time, I wanted to see if other people would support me and my brand. I stopped after that, trying to get a new logo. I re-released the second time on January 10, 2021, and I promoted everywhere from Instagram to Facebook And Everywhere you could think of. I had my 1st pop-up shop/Funday for the kid’s May 30th and I sold out very quickly and that let me know that people support me and I should keep going.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
This is nowhere near easy; my 1st pieces of merchandise were peeling and were terrible. I have to do everything by myself from Customer Service, Marketing, Production, and everything. So no, it has most definitely not been a smooth road.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make clothes for everyone of all ages, I specialize in younger apparel because of course, I am a part of this generation and I hang with people who dress up to date. What sets me apart is my story people can relate to me and a lot of people know so whenever put a saying they can relate to me.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
When I 1st start, I used an apart called Bazaart to create my logos. All social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, even TikTok before I deleted my account.
