Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Batts.
Hi Vincent, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am just a dude that likes everything or at least tries to like everything. I am an undergraduate student who interned at Georgia Tech three years prior to being accepted and attending currently. I called myself “Mr. Everything” or at least hoped to live that way. The way in living where I don’t limit the abundant amount of human experience I can obtain. I do a lot of spoken word and poetry, but more than that, I just think a lot. Think about why things are the way they are, how did I become who I am, how do things get worse or better? I love people, and a big thing about me is I know no stranger. Anyone I have the opportunity of talking to I will make a valiant effort to befriend or get vastly familiar with. I always was a conversationalist, so talking to people was easy. I find myself captivated by the different walks of life people come from. Since 10th grade, I’ve been big on expressing myself and trying to inspire others with my expression and found a way to do that through technology. Combining my love for content creation and conversation led me to create the podcast and give myself a chance to create insightful topics and share conversations with people on those topics.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a relatively smooth road. I have so much I like to discuss that topics come easy and I talk to so many different people that I always have someone I want to feature. If there is a challenge, that challenge is making sure I stay true to myself and the audience through the messages I convey. I use the phrase “Keep it Authentic” because authenticity was something I lacked for so long, given most of the decisions and ways I communicated with people were through my parents and never of my own free will until I got to the age of 16.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in content creation and am actually majoring in Computational Media at Georgia Tech. I am very big on displaying/conveying more with less. I create graphics for Instagram and snapchat that I use to inspire/motivate others to do something they probably haven’t thought of or consider a different viewpoint. I have my podcast where I discuss anything that could be a possible challenge or thought in my mind and makes it something positive for listeners to enjoy. I also have ventured into mobile phone photography to get images that look DSLR quality from the iPhone sitting in my pocket. I take the photos through various software, editing and composing their look, allowing myself to share what all can be done through the resources we have available to us. I’m simply known for being a nice and fun guy, one that’s adventurous at times too. I try to embrace all those parts and give myself a creative outlet to push those through.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have had an ample amount of good and bad luck in my life. Most of my friends did not have to deal with divorced parents or living alone inside an apartment for two years by themselves just to stay at the school they were currently attending. Most of my friends didn’t have to deal with being underweight or having asthma which affected my ability to play sports and be active heavily until middle school. The good luck is that I was born with extreme intelligence and that afforded me many opportunities for clubs, awards, and getting into my dream school, the Georgia Institute of Technology. Lastly, I have had the bad luck of having to pay for college by myself. I am not getting any help from my parents currently, and it creates a lot of unnecessary stress. Most of the individuals around me have support from their parents.
