Check out our conversation with Scott & Shaté below.

Why is the topic of purpose important to you?
The topic of purpose is important because it applies to everyone. We all have special skills or curiosities that we could be using to empower and improve our communities, and we’ve seen in our own lives as well as in the lives of those around us, that there’s great fulfillment when we operate in our purpose. We believe everyone has the right and the ability to experience that.

What have you learned about purpose?
We’ve learned that there’s more than one path to finding purpose. Some folks have very clear “aha” moments that lead them down the path towards their purpose. Others find themselves there by chance, through guidance from others, or by saying yes to new or unexpected opportunities. Getting to purpose is by no means a linear journey. For all of us, it involves self-discovery, exploration, and a willingness to both be vulnerable and to bet on ourselves.

What are some challenges of doing purpose-filled work?
The haze (as we like to call it) of doing purpose-filled work includes:

• Trusting the process – Many times, the journey doesn’t unfold the way we expect it or imagined it to unfold. Adapting to that requires patience, grace, grit, belief in yourself, and more.

• Trusting yourself – Imposter syndrome and self-doubt impact everyone, and it’s incredibly counter productive to purpose-filled work. Although it may be easier said than done, it’s important that we always find a way to continue to bet on our ourselves.

What’s the best advice about purpose that some of your guests have given?
Over the course of our second season, our guests shared some amazing advice about purpose. Here are a few of those nuggets.

1. Don’t wait to have it all figured out before taking action. A number of our guests never planned to be doing the work they’re in now. They got to where they are by following their interests interests, curiosities, or suggestions from trusted folks around them.

2. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. In one of our favorite quotes of the season, our guest said “If you’re comparing yourself to others, you’re going to always be running your race in someone else’s lane. The prize goes to the person who stays in their lane and runs that race to best of their ability.”

It was so great to reconnect. One last question – how can our readers connect with you, learn more or support you?
