What advice would you give to others contemplating opening a new business?
My advice to those aspiring a new business, is to please have a plan and a backup plan if things get tight. After opening a business in the midst of Covid-19, I have learned that things can go from bad to worst in a matter of days. So having a plan to pick yourself back up, is always best or else you may crash and burn.
What to you, are key “essential” factors for starting a business?
I have a few key factors for starting a business. I have already said to plan. Another is to have a support system, speak with mentors and look to others that are already doing what you aspire to do. Get tips from them to help you along the way.
Would you say owning your own business is hard?
Owning your own business is definitely hard. One of the hardest parts is missing out on opportunities to have fun and enjoy friends and family. It is often long hours, weekend hours and holiday hours at work when you are a small business having to working alone. It is hard to maintain your own social media content and daily marketing, coupled with running the business from day to day.
Do you think someone needs to be business savvy to start a business?
I do not think not being business savvy is a deal breaker for starting a business. However, I do think doing the research or working with others for help, is definitely key and very important to starting a business.
In your view, who should folks seek out when things get hard in their new business?
For me being spiritually inclined, I reach out to my God first, then family and friends. I would advise others, to seek whomever is closet to them and whoever they feel most comfortable in seeking help from.
Is having a website for your business a gamechanger?
Absolutely not! With the social media world we live in today, online platforms, coupled with email and cell phones, can cover any business need without website overhead, cost and daily maintenance. It was so great to reconnect. One last question – how can our readers connect with you, learn more or support you?
