Story & Lesson Highlights with Jasmine Maurer of Atlanta

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jasmine Maurer. Check out our conversation below.

Jasmine, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve found a lot of joy in tending to my lawn and garden lately. This summer, I successfully grew tomatoes, carrots, thyme, banana peppers, parsley, Scotch bonnet peppers, basil, and lettuce

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are excited to resume our work in the community and continue developing programs that address the needs of homeless and underserved populations through stable housing solutions.

As part of our Bridging the Gap series, we are actively seeking funding for an integrated therapy center. This facility will offer behavioral and cognitive therapies alongside other therapeutic services—all under one roof—while also addressing the housing and daily needs of our clients.

Our mission is to create a holistic support system that fosters long-term stability, wellness, and self-sufficiency.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Many years ago, I was going through a dark time and had lost touch with who I was. During that period, a friend introduced me to a man named Nathaniel. In one of our conversations, he looked at me and said, “You look like you should be dancing in a field of flowers, being free.” That simple statement shook me to my core. I was so afraid of what it stirred in me that I pulled away and distanced myself from him.

Still, we remained friends over the years, checking in periodically. Eventually, as I began to come out of that difficult space, I realized I hadn’t spoken to Nathaniel in about a year. When I looked him up on social media, I was devastated to learn that he had died by suicide.

I never got the chance to thank him—for seeing me, for reminding me of who I was when I had forgotten. I think about him often, and I hope that his children are safe, loved, and doing well. His impact on my life was quiet but profound, and I carry that with me always.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
A former coworker once found herself at a crossroads, facing life-changing decisions and unsure of how to move forward. After listening to her situation, I encouraged her not to be afraid to take a leap—specifically, to leave the company we were working for and pursue a career in the healthcare industry by starting her own business.

She took that step, and a year later, she was not only successful but genuinely happy. Watching her thrive reminded me of the power of encouragement and how believing in someone’s potential can help spark real transformation.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I stopped putting on faces many years ago. I am not here to ensure your comfort.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am doing what I was born to do. I was put here to help others learn to navigate.
