Story & Lesson Highlights with Javonna waldon of McDonough/Sparks

We recently had the chance to connect with Javonna waldon and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Javonna, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Honestly…myself. Often times as women we lose ourselves in being a mom or wife, jobs… doing any and everything else but tending to our own needs. Building myself back up has been the most rewarding journey, I’m discoveRing new likes and hobbies

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Javonna Waldon, known as Nailed by J, Javonna The Nailtech. I’m a licensed master cosmetologist specializing in acrylic nails, currently transitioning into a full time nail instructor.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly…my dad, I grew up as a daddy’s girl and he taught my sister and I to always be able to afford yourself times 3, always get some money whether you’re your own boss or working under someone else… and always have a trade or something to fall back on if life happens…

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep being your true authentic self, never dim your light for anyone

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes
