We recently had the chance to connect with Kimberly Oberheu and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Slowly waking up. and the first thing I do is talk to God, lyaing there in bed.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a creative entrepreneur inspired by all aspects of nature, but in particular southern landscapes. I have a few companies: Plants Forever, Swanky Real Estate, and Pink Magnolia Productions.
Plants Forever, we work with B@B clients creating biophilic designs and holiday designs. Using plants, moss walls, living walls, fresh potted arrangements, and more.
Swanky Real Estate is just launching, but we love buying or creating spaces connected to or within a cool natural landscape.
Pink Magnolia is site site-specific theatre mostly created outdoors.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my mom. She shaped the ideas of hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, can-do attitude, and faith. She has grit, grace, and sassiness all round into one.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
I remember going to kindergarten and being scared. I had a little finger puppet in my pocket that I would secretly talk to. The use of an imaginary friend helped me feel safe, and as an adult, I’m thankful that I could use my imagination instead of a phone connection. This was a way to connect to me adn my own inner self.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My faith. My ability and desire to create. My faith has a wild side to it. Most think “faith ” and they have preconceived ideas about that – when you’re on the walk with God, it can get wild..
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Drinking Diet Coke.LOLOLO. It’s so not good for you, but I love it! I need to stop anyway!
