Teia Lettsome’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Teia Lettsome. Check out our conversation below.

Teia, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
As of recent I have been journaling for the portion of the start of my day. It eradicates any negative thoughts within my subconscious and sets a more positive tone for my day!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Teia A Lettsome aka GRIM. Grim stands for Greatness InMe, I’m a multi faceted artist that experiments with all mediums. I enjoy going to all extremes meaning if I’m doing realism it’s hyper realism or if I’m going gritty I’m going all the way New York subway graffiti on the canvas. I enjoy pushing limits and surprising myself with what I’m capable of doing

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother. My mother always saw me and believed in me. Shea always told me that I am a chosen child and that I am special. My mother speaks life into me and for her I am forever grateful and will provide the world to her

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I have many, the most defining was being abused by my biological father from 12-17. However that forged me into becoming a deeper artist and using that experience to channel inner parts of me that comes out on canvas. I am still learning to heal them but that’s apart of the process.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
My purpose.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope my art still circulates when I am gone. That’s a story in itself and that’s the only story i wish to continue my legacy. Stories told can always get confused but stories on canvas will always be understood subjectively and authentically told from me, even when I am not here.
