Tomeeko Piercy’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tomeeko Piercy. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Tomeeko, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
I kick off my day by stepping outside and expressing gratitude for life and inner peace. Next, I plan my tasks, organize my schedule, and jot down my ideas, intentions, and scripts. After that, I dedicate time to reading, working out, studying, meditating, and managing my business affairs. Once I’m back home, I enjoy a meal and take a refreshing hour nap to clear my mind. When I wake up, I spend quality time with my family for a few hours, then dive into animating, recording, and drawing until around 11:00 PM. After that, I shift to music production and recording until about 2:30 AM. Finally, I head to bed, ready to rise and do it all again. While there are some occasional variations, that’s my typical routine!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Tomeeko Piercy, but you can also call me Yokane. I’m a musician and the creator of the animated series “The Meeko Show.” I developed the show to reflect American Black Southern culture and to present the kind of content I wished existed on television. The authenticity of the show comes from its characters, who are inspired by my family and friends, capturing our wild interactions.

While the fans enjoy it, the show holds a special place for me as a time capsule for my loved ones, truly reflecting the essence, energy, and voices of the cast. Growing up, I was influenced by shows like The Flintstones, The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Boondocks, and Martin. While those shows shaped my artistic style, “The Meeko Show” brings something fresh and unique to the table—it’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience!

The animation is fairly simple, but the dialogue is pure gold. It entertains and enlightens without being overly preachy, making it enjoyable for the entire family!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed my success hinged on someone recognizing my value—someone who would see my potential and offer me an opportunity or platform. That recognition never came. I eventually learned that achieving certain things often requires compromise or self-effort—self-mastery.

As I grew older, my perspective shifted. I realized that I had the power to create my own platform and that I was in a position to recognize potential in others as well. It felt far more equitable to build things myself. The idea is simple: if you create it, they will come. Sometimes, people can see our potential to be more powerful than we even realize, and they may try to convince us otherwise or distract us from our true capabilities.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The bottom can provide lessons that the peaks never will. Genuine creativity and innovation emerges from challenges and limitations. During difficult times, we discover our true selves through reflection and introspection. If you believe you can’t change something outside of you, start by changing something within. If you can’t change the situation, then change your response to the situation.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Peace, Love, Health, Wealth, Freedom and Artistic expression!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I was consistent, persistent, and genuine. I had a passion for learning, was fearless, not foolish, a fighter, loved children and good-hearted people, and I truly cared.
